Chris Harrison chatted with Matt and his best friend Tyler Cameron during Monday’s episode of "The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!" and spoke with the new Bachelor about what his life has been like since the big news.

Matt quipped, "I think the grandkid counter for my mom started when the announcement was made."

As for how many kiddos she wants, "a basketball team" will suffice.

Matt is extremely close with his mom, and Tyler explained that the ideal woman for Matt embodies many of Patty’s own characteristics.

"You’re going to look for someone who resembles his mother. His mother is one of the sweetest ladies: very lovely, very willing to help and serve others in the community, and someone that’s ready to get on the ground and change the world," Tyler said. "That’s what Matt’s going to do — he’s going to change the world."

Matt posted a photo of himself and his mom on Father's Day and wrote, "Happy Fathers Day Mom 🐼🤞🏽"

During his first official interview as the new Bachelor on "Good Morning America," the 28-year-old spoke about the values his mother instilled in him and how he will carry them with him on the show.

He said, "I’m just going to lean into myself and how my mom raised me, and hopefully when people invite me into their homes on Monday night, they’re going to see that I’m not much different from them and they see that diverse love stories are beautiful."

The former football player added, "I’m looking for qualities that my mom embodies, and that’s selfless, honest, caring, compassionate, and those are qualities found in women all shapes, sizes, and races; it’s not a black or white thing. I’m hoping when that limo pulls up, there’s a lot of diversity and I see every type of women coming out of that limo."

During his conversation with Chris, Matt said his phone has been ringing "off the hook" ever since the reveal on "Good Morning America."

He said, "The most interesting text I probably got was from my third-grade teacher. I haven’t heard from her since I missed by book report, so there’s people coming from all over the place to share their excitement."

Matt added, "I’ve heard from a lot of my Black friends that aren’t Bachelor Nation faithful that are excited about me and honored I’m in the position I’m in and have this opportunity to represent what it’s going to look like to have diverse relationships and tell those love stories."

Tyler teased what Chris could expect with Matt as the Bachelor, and it includes "a lot of food" and "working out an obscene amount."

He quipped, "This is probably the best shape you’ve ever been in on a season."
