Proof Trista & Ryan Sutter Are a 'Bachelor: GOAT' Couple 17 Years Later
Trista and Ryan Sutter are number one for a reason.
Monday evening involved a trip down memory lane for Trista and Ryan thanks to a look back at the first seasons of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" on "The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!" Viewers relived Alex Michel's journey to find love, narrowing down his final two to Amanda Marsh and Trista (fans also saw their fair share of big suits), ultimately picking Amanda.
Trista Rehn didn't get her happy ending on "The Bachelor," but she had her chance to make up for heartbreak on the first season of "The Bachelorette," which premiered January 8, 2003. Ryan turned out to be exactly the salve that she needed. Trista and Ryan's entire relationship — the show, their engagement, their wedding, their family — laid the groundwork for all other Bachelors and Bachelorettes to follow. They wed December 6, 2003, in Rancho Mirage, California.
Seventeen years later, the Sutters are still going strong. There's a reason why Bachelor Nation deems Trista the "Fairy Godmother" of the franchise. Trista and Ryan have two kids, Maxwell and Blakesley, and constantly praise each other on and off social media.
Just before their sixteenth wedding anniversary, Trista wrote on Instagram, "5 years and 364 days ago, I jumped into this man’s arms and our beautiful future together and have never looked back. @ryansutter, you are the best parts of my past, present, and future and I am thankful every day for the life we have created, together. Happy (almost) 16th anniversary!"
On Mother's Day, Ryan captioned a family photo, "The backbone of our family, she’s always there to pick us up, settle us down and hug us tight. There is no more difficult or important role in life than that of a mother. We’re so lucky to have one of the most dedicated and loving Moms out there. Thank you @tristasutter for all you do. We love you forever..."
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Fans of the show stand by Trista and Ryan, too, often referring to them as "couple goals." Tuesday morning, hours after her episode of "Bachelor: GOAT," Ryan wrote a long note on Instagram explaining that instead of watching the show, he "grabbed the dog and my truck and went out to find a dirt road, clean air and some Colorado Mountain majesty."
Ryan reminisced, "The 'show' was a different experience for Trista and I. For her, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity - A chance to be a Queen and the gold laden, rose covered pathway to love. For me, it was a struggle against the odds - one of many competing for moments of time, never knowing how I was perceived or what others might be doing with their moments spent with someone I was falling in love with."
He added, "But yes, it was also my pathway to love - paved more so with rocks and mud."
He wrote about what being on "The Bachelorette" meant for both of them and that they spent their own evenings "in accordance with our personal experience and personalities."
This involved Trista "with friends and wine and cupcakes. Me with the dog and a truck and a country music playlist."
The firefighter went on, "When I pulled back into the driveway, well after the final credits had rolled, smelling like bug spray and dirt, she was there to greet me looking as 'ravishing' as ever in her fancy dress with a cupcake and a kiss."
Ryan said he feels "grateful" for the opportunity to be on the show because he met his wife who "understands me and loves me."

The comments on his Instagram post prove that the Bachelor Nation faithful stand behind him and his sustained relationship with Trista.
Chris Harrison wrote, "This is why you are the man."
Trista added, "I may not always look ravishing with a fancy dress, or a cupcake, but I will always be there with a kiss...and all my love."
One fan chimed in, "The world needs more Ryan Sutters!! Stay safe!"
Another exclaimed, "He is still my absolute favorite man ever to be on this show and I’ve watched EVERY season!"
A third wrote, "Love your authenticity Ryan ♥️ you and Trista are the real deal ✨"
One commenter encapsulated most sentiments, expressing, "Y’all are truly the Bachelor franchise’s G.O.A.T"
Trista and Ryan may reminisce on their "Bachelorette" pasts differently, but these two are perfect proof that true love can find its way up the Bachelor Mansion driveway. For that, we're ever so thankful.
