Rachel & Becca Get Real About Coping with the 'Good Days' and 'Bad Days' of Quarantine
Becca Kufrin and Rachel Lindsay aren't afraid of honesty, and that's exactly what listeners got on their new episode of "Bachelor Happy Hour."
The podcast co-hosts spent the episode answering fan questions and veering into all subject matters, from quarantine to their favorite interviewee. They began with what sounds like a straightforward question, but is hardly that.
Rachel read, "How the hell are you doing?"
She called it the "perfect way" to start off their podcast and admitted, "If I’m honest, I have highs and lows. Some days I wake up and I feel hopeful and ready to tackle the day. Other days, I take 15 steps back."
Rachel is a vocal advocate for racial justice and education, and she said that everything going on in the world can both empower her and also cause her to "take a step a back." She shared some words of advice from her friend and co-host on another podcast, Van Lathan.
She paraphrased him saying, "Don’t feel guilty if you can’t give your all to it. If you can’t watch that video, if you can’t listen to the audio, it doesn’t mean you’ve given up on the fight for justice. It just means you have to check yourself mentally."

Rachel added, "If anybody else is going through that out there, it’s OK for your own sanity to take a step back or talk to somebody or just admit that you’re not OK, because that was me the other day. All that to say, I try not to stay in that place and I try to be hopeful and make a difference in the best way I know how. Good days, bad days."
Rachel's answer resonated with Becca. She agreed she, too, had "good days and bad days." Becca explained that the last few months, as well as 2020 in general, have been "testing us."
She said, "There’s so much going on in this year. I started off 2020 on such a high. I had 'The Bachelor Live On Stage,' I had the podcast. It was easy sailing. Now I look back to a couple months ago and I feel like I was at a different place in my life — a completely different mindset. With everything happening, I feel like I’m being tested, learning a lot more about myself, my friends, and my family, and having new conversations that I’ve never had before in my life."
Becca took a moment to give a shout-out to her dog, Minno, whom she said "keeps me sane."
The Season 14 Bachelorette mentioned she had a "list of resolutions" and her "number one thing was to work on my patience."

She said, "That’s definitely happened because of everything. I just want to add to that not only to be patient but to keep expanding in what I don’t know in my knowledge base, and to be OK having the bad days. We’re always on social media and doing interviews and out there, and you want to try to put on a brave face, but that’s not always the case. It’s not the year to do that and pretend like everything is perfect."
Rachel expressed, "There has been a lot of learning this year, and that’s when I get hopeful. Yeah, I may get frustrated by some things, but I’m grateful people are learning and recognizing things about themselves. That makes me hopeful for the next generation."
Becca asked how Rachel personally copes with her "bad days" and what outlets she turns to in those times.
Rachel listed her podcast, but also named family and friends, including her husband Bryan Abasolo. She joked she's "killing him with rants."
She told Becca other coping mechanisms include "Journaling, meditating, praying, working out. All things to just release. Even if it’s just in the shower and crying, screaming, singing."
Both Rachel and Becca said reading has been especially helpful. Rachel turns to fiction to "escape reality," whereas Becca loves nonfiction and true crime.
