Jenni Croft Shares Powerful Message After Her Stepdad Dies from COVID-19
Jenni Croft traveled to her home in Wichita, Kansas, on Friday with a heavy heart.
On August 23, Jenni shared the tragic news on Instagram that her stepdad "Papa Sonny" died after a battle with COVID-19. She posted a photo of him sitting and laughing next to her daughter and wrote, "I dont even know how to begin this post. Papa Sonny is gone. My mom's person! The guy who loved thes [sic] babies like his own grandkids. Who love my sister and I like his own daughters. The guy who has been there for my mom in the hardest of times."
She described, "Just a little backstory...he had flu like symptoms in July around the evening of the 25th, tested negative for COVID twice that next week and on the 31st was admitted with a Positive COVID test. He was put on a ventilator on August 1st and has been on it ever since. He got plasma, antibiotics, steroids, antiviral meds and NOTHING they were doing was helping him."

Jenni said in her caption she and her family felt "helpless" during his hospitalization.
"No visitors, no patient advocate, no clear communication...we literally just had to sit and wait," she wrote.
On Friday, she posted a photo on her Instagram Story of herself wearing a mask and wrote, "I love going home to Wichita but not like this. My moms person, my step dad, passed away on the 22nd from COVID19. 22 days on the VENT and they couldn’t get his lungs to work again."
Jenni emphasized at the end of her note, "Wear your masks, wash your hands, stay safe but LIVE YOUR LIFE! It's too short!"
