Becca Kufrin Remembers Her 'Guardian Angel' Father on Anniversary of His Death
Becca Kufrin paid homage to her father Steve on the 11th anniversary of his death. He passed away September 20, 2009, after battling brain cancer.
Becca posted photos on Instagram Sunday from when she was younger. In one picture, Becca, her dad, and their dogs stand by a lake as she holds fish she presumably caught.
In another picture, Becca and her sister smile with Steve. Becca shared a note that he wrote her, which reads, "Hi, Sweetie: I miss you sooooo much! More than a skunk misses its smell; More than a fish misses water; More than a duck misses its wings; More than Uncle Tom misses a nap. I miss you. Love - Dadeo. XOXO."

She captioned the series of images, "It’s been 4,015 days since I last held my dad’s hand and looked into his beautiful blue eyes. It’s sad and still hard to know my dad isn’t here to walk me through some of my biggest life moments, but looking at the bright side - I’ve had 4,015 days with the best guardian angel ever 💛"
Becca wrote a similarly poignant message last year on the 10th anniversary of his death and also on Father's Day.
She wrote in June, "Happy Father’s Day to my first love. I miss you Dad. I miss how you’d always smell like chapstick and woodchip shavings after carving a decoy. I miss how you’d let me pack your tobacco pipe, and even though you knew I’d spill it, you still let me do it anyways. I miss how I’d walk through the door after my senior classes and you’d just be pulling out the delicious peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and say 'give me a smooch'."

Becca continued sharing some of her favorite moments and memories with her father, but at the end, she credited him with giving her the "greatest gift of all," which was "showing me how to live through love, patience, grace and strength (as I’m sure you’ve witness from above, it’s been a reeeaaallll work in progress for me.) But no matter all my missings, my life is so richly blessed because I had you in it."
