The Story Behind Why Joe Amabile Once Fell Asleep on a First Date
There's no second chance at making a first impression, and Joe Amabile wrecked that opportunity with one woman in particular.
Joe's new podcast "Click Bait with Bachelor Nation" that he co-hosts with Tayshia Adams and Hannah Ann Sluss launched Thursday, and the three friends kicked it off by participating in a get-to-know-you game called "What's Your Baggage?"
In it, one person reads a fact and they all have to guess which person wrote it. Tayshia, for instance, revealed that she got run over by a truck her freshman year of college. Hannah Ann happens to keep a box of stuff from every relationship she's been in.
Joe, as it turns out, once fell asleep on a first date.
Is he now Grocery Snore Joe?
He explained on "Click Bait with Bachelor Nation" how and why it happened.
The Chicago native began, "I’m going to start this off with I don’t do drugs. I used to work in the produce market and woke up every day at 1:30, 2 in the morning. I’m like 27 at this point. By 6:00, 7:00 at night I’m actually really tired."
Joe said he was getting ready to go on a first date with a woman and he also happened to be going out of town the next day.
"I’m nervous about flying, so my friend gave me these muscle relaxers," he said. "I was kind of nervous about the date, so I took one of the muscle relaxers on the date."
Joe and the woman went to Soho House, and that's pretty much all he remembers.
He divulged, "She’s talking to me, and next thing I know, I wake up in the morning and I’m at work. I don’t even remember it. I got a text message two hours into work of me sleeping and I’m like, 'Oh, my God, I took that girl out!' My friend calls me and says, 'The girl you took out last night? She saw my wife and me eating and joined us for dinner.'"
Joe confirmed there was "never another date after that."
