Nicole Lopez-Alvar Mourns Her Dog Mia
Nicole Lopez-Alvar shared heartbreaking news Monday that her Chihuahua mix Mia passed away.
Nicole posted photos on Instagram of herself and Mia, and wrote a heartfelt caption about the impact Mia had on her and everyone else she met.
She began her note, "My Mia patookie went to dog heaven this morning...I thought I’d be able to write this, but I can’t. I’d do anything to have you on my lap right now with your face pressed against me, Mia. Just know that I did everything I could. I love you so much."
Nicole continued, "I remember the face you gave me at the shelter when I rescued you... it was the same look you gave me this morning. It was time to go. My Mia patookie lil’ Mi (along with 30 other names that I wouldn’t even know how to spell out)...everyone who met you loved you. You touched every person you met."

She dubbed Mia the "most special and well-behaved... dog I've ever had."
Nicole rescued Mia in June 2013, and four years ago she became big sister to Nicole’s other dog, a Weimaraner named Brooklyn. On August 6, Nicole shared photos from a photo shoot she did with her two dogs and revealed that Mia was "terminally ill," although "numerous vets" couldn’t diagnose Mia’s exact illness.
The "Bachelor in Paradise" alum wrote that day, "The bond I have with Mia is different. I rescued Mia from the shelter in 2013. Back then, she wasn’t the thicc, croqueta-looking, loaf of bread you see now. 🥖✨ She was emaciated, covered in fleas, and I promised to always protect her."

She added, "The expression, 'Who rescued who?' is insanely cheesy, but so, so true."
On Tuesday, Nicole paid homage to Mia on her Instagram Story by posting videos and photos of her dog over the years. These include Mia in a hot dog costume, Mia playing with baby Brooklyn, Mia cuddling on the couch, and more.
Our thoughts go out to Nicole and her family during this heartbreaking time.
