'Listen to Your Heart's' Chris Watson Releases Powerful New Song and Music Video
Chris Watson dropped a new song called "Truth Is," and the truth is, it’s a powerful tune about justice and spreading love over hate.
Much of the imagery in Chris' music video revolves around social reform and equality. The "Truth Is" video begins with Chris sitting in bed watching videos of protests calling for justice for Breonna Taylor. He also wears a sweatshirt that reads "protect Black women at all costs."
In another snippet of the music video, Chris and his band play on a street corner in Hollywood and he locks eyes with someone wearing a matching "No Justice No Peace" mask.
Those themes echo through his song and in the lyrics. One verse goes, "I was young, just a kid when I felt the pain / Another young brother slain from running the gang. / On the real I ain’t seen it, it was on TV / But in my heart still knew that boy could be me."
Chris posted about the song on social media and explained why he came up with it.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
He wrote, "I wrote this song for all of you. We all need more love and understanding in the world. It doesn’t matter who you are, you can do your part and love each other like it’s the end."
