Rachel Lindsay Shares the Heartfelt Story of How She Adopted Her Dog Copper
Owners may pick their dogs, but it’s just as important for the dogs to pick their owners.
For Rachel Lindsay, it was the perfect combination of the two.
On Thursday, the "Bachelor Happy Hour" co-host wrote on Instagram about how her dog Copper ended up joining her family. She explained in her caption, "Have I ever told you guys how Copper came to be a part of our family? @kingcopperash was found in the streets of Dallas by my sister [Constance] over 4 years ago."
She continued, "She took him to the vet but he wasn’t chipped and didn’t have tags. She posted about him on a website and no one claimed him. A foster dog mom offered to take him home but he escaped from her yard that night because there was a storm and he was scared."

Rachel said that a second couple found Copper after he ran away, and they then contacted her sister Constance.
She shared, "My sister showed me his picture and I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I went to meet him and he ran to me and touched me with his paw. Basically, he imprinted on me. At that point, I said 'Son, come home' and we have been inseparable ever since that day! He was always meant to be mine!"

Copper has been one of her main companions ever since Rachel made the move from Miami to Los Angeles. She and Bryan love taking Copper out for strolls on sunny days in L.A. when Bryan comes to visit. Bryan doesn’t mind doing it solo, either.
He posted a photo recently of himself strolling along the bluffs in Santa Monica, California, near the world-famous pier. Bryan captioned it, "Be the person your dog thinks you are 🧔🏻❤️🐕"

On May 5, Rachel shared a picture of herself, Bryan, and Copper and explained that in her family, they celebrate "Copper de Mayo" because it’s the day Constance first found him.
She wrote, "Today is his 'found day' and the day we celebrate his birthday! We never knew rescuing Copper would bring us so much joy! We love you little man!"
