Brendan Talks Immediate Attraction to Bachelorette Tayshia and the 'Little Wiggle' That Won Him Over
“Bachelorette” contestant Brendan Morais chatted with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin for the latest episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour,” during which he opened up about his instant attraction to Season 16’s second lead, Tayshia Adams.
“When she entered the room, literally the first thing aside from her beauty that I noticed — and I know a lot of guys said this, but I thought of it first! — was that she did this little wiggle,” Brendan recalled, pointing out Tayshia’s impromptu dance move that immediately piqued his interest.
“I felt like that just encompassed all the amazing qualities of Tayshia, in just a little quick movement where I was like, ‘She’s taking this very seriously, but she’s also going to be her true, genuine, and natural self. She’s going to be silly and goofy, but at the same time sweet and gentle,’” he continued. “That’s the biggest impression that I had of her. Every time I was with her, she made me feel amazing. She was so gentle and sweet. I’m certainly drawn to personalities like that.”
Brendan admitted that he couldn’t tell if Tayshia was equally attracted to him toward the beginning of their romance. However, reassurance from the other men in the house — as well as an invite from Tayshia to join her on her inaugural one-on-one date — made him feel better about his chances with the stunning Orange County, California, native.
“She gave me a double take. That’s something that I didn’t notice. But a lot of the other guys were like, ‘She gave you a double-look before she hugged you,’” the Massachusetts-based roofer remembered. “At the end of the day, I was surprised that I got the first one-on-one… But I was definitely grateful for it.”
Despite his strong connection with Tayshia, Brendan shocked Bachelor Nation when he eliminated himself from “The Bachelorette” during the first installment of the season finale, which aired Monday night. According to Brendan, he wasn’t ready to propose.
Though Rachel didn’t agree with Brendan’s abrupt exit — and grilled him about why he chose to leave the show when he did — he stood by his actions. “I was trying to be as selfless as possible,” he explained, “and not take it to the very end with Tayshia and inform her of this then, not being the last guy and dropping this bomb on her end.”
