Bachelor Nation Stars Urge Fans to Be Kind as Matt James' Season 25 Kicks Off
Before Monday night’s premiere of “The Bachelor” Season 25, notable alums of the franchise took to Instagram, urging fans to be kind as Matt James took the first steps in his search for love.
Hannah Godwin — who competed for Colton Underwood’s heart on Season 23 of “The Bachelor” but got engaged to Dylan Barbour during “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 6 — shared a photo of her limo entrance look, accompanied by this message: “a little psa to remember that all these people on the show aren’t perfect and only show a small portion of who they are.”
Taylor Nolan, who fans got to know during Season 21 of “The Bachelor,” also posted a photo from her first night at the Mansion. “Did you even go on @bachelorabc if you don’t post your entrance photo every season premiere?” she wrote, before reminding her followers how tough it can be to make yourself vulnerable in front of millions of viewers.
“But for real, sending @mattjames919 and all the women on this season positive vibes,” she continued. “Opening yourself up on a reality show is NOT EASY and everyone will have something to say no matter what you do. stay grounded, stay true to yourself (even if who you are changes!), and don’t ever hesitate to reach out for support!!!”
Mykenna Dorn — a contestant on Peter Weber’s Season 24 of “The Bachelor” — emphasized that those who appear on the series are not immune to venomous remarks. “As we dive into a new season tonight I want to remind you to BE KIND!” she wrote in part. “Yes this is a reality tv show and for your entertainment but these are also human beings with feelings. Before you decide to DM, tweet and comment something rude please think before you press send. Be mindful of what your words will do to these young women and Matt. They’re opening themselves up to a whole new world and it isn’t going to be easy. So please be kind.”
Shiann Lewis, another Season 24 alum, also implored Bachelor Nation to be compassionate as Matt’s journey unfolds. “Good luck to Matt & all the women on this season! Embrace & enjoy this crazy ride. And to Bachelor Nation, BE KIND!!” she wrote. “As entertaining as the show can be remember the women on your tv are not just characters! We’re all human. It’s a whole other world in Bachelor land.”
Additionally, Vanessa Grimaldi — who won Bachelor Nick Viall’s final rose on Season 21 before finding love with her current fiancé, businessman Josh Wolfe — explained that cast members are not “fictional characters” free of feelings.
“To IG users: There is a misconception, stigma, judgment that comes from being on a reality TV show. Sometimes people on social media, and off, will treat contestants like they’re fictional characters, robots that don’t have emotions. That can’t feel,” she wrote. “As if words won’t hurt them. But they do and they will. So, please be kind to these new women entering a very strange yet exciting journey in their lives!”
Well said, ladies.
“The Bachelor” airs Mondays on ABC at 8 p.m.
