Chelsea Vaughn Shares Footage from When She Shaved Her Head, Per Rachel Lindsay & Becca Kufrin's Request
When Chelsea Vaughn stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” this week, she opened up to co-hosts Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin about the meaningful conversation she had with Matt James regarding Black hair on the latest episode of “The Bachelor.”
During their chat, the gorgeous New York City-based runway model also reflected on the decision she made to shave her head this summer while quarantined amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“OK, here’s what happened,” Chelsea said. “I am really bad at doing my own hair. I’ve been going to the hair salon, like, every two weeks. I have my lady that I trust now, so I let her handle it. Quarantine happened. My hair salon was closed. I didn’t have anyone to do my hair. And I was just like, ‘You know what? Forget this. I’m going to shave it off.’”
She added, “So I bought some clippers on Amazon and I shaved it off in my bathroom with my roommate.”
Intrigued, Rachel and Becca asked Chelsea if they could see any documentation of her at-home haircut. “Pictures, video footage, whatever you have — please share it with us because I’m sure everyone would love to check it out,” Becca said.
On Tuesday, the same day her “Bachelor Happy Hour” interview was released, Chelsea took to Instagram to share an inspiring video showing the moment she said goodbye to her longer tresses.
“In June 2020, I decided I was over it & ready to be LIBERATED,” she wrote alongside the clip set to the tune of Kid Francescoli’s hit song “Moon (And It Went Like).” The video ended with a succession of stunning modeling pics from Chelsea’s portfolio, in which her beautiful short — and now blonde! — hair is on display.

On “Bachelor Happy Hour,” Chelsea explained that shaving her head was a freeing experience because it made her realize that she doesn’t need hair to feel good about herself either externally or internally.
“I don’t need hair to be feminine. I don’t need hair to be beautiful. I don’t need hair to be attractive to men,” she said. “It was just such a liberating thing and now I feel even more like myself even though I’ve never had a shaved head. But somehow, I feel more like myself without hair.”
