'Bachelor Happy Hour': Serena Pitt Opens Up About Her Instant Connection with Matt James
Serena Pitt stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” to chat with Becca Kufrin and guest co-host Tayshia Adams about her experience competing for Matt James’ heart on “The Bachelor” Season 25.
The stunning Canadian opened up about her instant connection with Matt and shared why, at one point, she was hopeful their relationship would last.
“After the first group date, we had a great conversation and we kissed and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, there is this huge spark there,’” Serena said, surmising why she was asked to join Matt for a one-on-one date early on in the season.
“That week, I was definitely feeling like it could have been me on that date card,” she elaborated. “You never know. I think a lot of girls feel that, but because of how strong our relationship was so early on, I was hopeful. I felt like there was a good chance I was in the running for that date.”
Serena and Matt’s relationship flourished as filming progressed at Pennsylvania’s Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in the fall of 2020. The publicist eventually became part of Matt’s final four and received a coveted Hometown Date.
Serena went on to tell Becca and Tayshia that her one-on-one with Matt was crucial to building a strong foundation together.
“I definitely felt that connection from night one. It was just really easy and natural between us. We had great conversation and it never felt forced,” she said of her chemistry the with the handsome lead. “There’s obviously an attraction there.”
Serena continued, “From the first group date, our relationship really hit the ground running. So, getting that one-on-one early on, it was great because I felt like our relationship was on a fantastic track. To have that extended time to just propel it that much more forward, I was really lucky to have received it.”
Despite their remarkable run as a couple, Serena ultimately broke up with Matt before Fantasy Suites in an emotional exchange. As Bachelor Nation will recall, she took a direct approach to calling it quits with the New York City-based real estate broker, telling him, “I don't think that you're my person.”
Serena also touched on her split from Matt during her “Bachelor Happy Hour” appearance.
“I felt being as clear and direct as possible about where I stood in that relationship and what my feelings were and why I was leaving was the best thing I could do for him because he has… other women. He doesn’t have weeks to ponder,” she said. “We don’t have time to have multiple conversations. It’s one conversation and then I’m gone. And then he goes on and dates other women.”
Serena added, “I didn’t want him to leave our conversation with any doubts, with any what-ifs, any questions. I wanted to be as straightforward as I possibly could.”
