Experience New York City Like Kaitlyn Bristowe on 'The Bachelorette'
Bright lights, big city! There’s nowhere else in the world quite like New York City. The Big Apple has something for everyone, from lone travelers to romantic vacationers alike. Whether you enjoy a show on Broadway, explore some of the world’s best paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, or stroll through Central Park, you’ll never be bored!
Almost 9 million people live in New York City, and while that number feels intimidatingly high, there are still plenty of ways to carve out alone time for you and your loved one. Falling in love in New York is a tale old as time, and you, too, can live that.
Kaitlyn Bristowe traveled to New York on Season 11 of “The Bachelorette,” and here’s how you can experience the city just like her.
Arrival
New York has hundreds of hotels to choose from, which can make deciding on which one particularly overwhelming. If you want to see the city just like Kaitlyn and the guys, check out the beautiful Knickerbocker Hotel. It’s located in famous Times Square in the heart of the city. You and your dates can head straight from the hotel into the pulse of the city, but if you crave an escape, you can sit on their renowned rooftop. Tune out the noise, stare into each other’s eyes, and picture your forever.
Now it’s time to put your bags down and get exploring!
Group Date: That’s a Rap
New York City is home to a plethora of music venues for all types of genres. Name a type of music and you’ll surely find a place where you can listen to it. Is that the sound of love we hear?
On her season of “The Bachelorette,” Kaitlyn and the guys went on a group date at Stage FORTY8, where they had a rap battle featuring Doug E. Fresh. While your outing in the city may not include a day with the “Human Beat Box” himself, you can still have your suitors try their hands at writing you songs or poems. Make it even more competitive so whoever comes up with the best rhymes wins extra time with you. A romantic serenade is definitely worth a rose.
After the battle of wits, spend the evening on a boat looking at the New York City skyline and its glittering lights as you sail up and down the Hudson River. Don’t forget to snap a cute picture kissing on the boat!
One-on-One Date: Life Imitates Art
A visit to New York City requires a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Walk hand-in-hand through the hallowed halls and gaze upon some of the world’s best art. You’ll see paintings by Auguste Renoir, Vincent van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Joan Miró, as well as artifacts from ancient Egypt, ancient Rome, and so much more. You’ll be awestruck, and you can translate those feelings of love for the arts into your relationship. You and your date can even turn your visit into a game by seeing who can spot the most roses in the paintings!
Discuss your favorite works in the museum over a picnic in the park afterwards. Or, if you want to live like Kaitlyn, charter a Liberty Helicopters ride over the city and enjoy the skyline at sunset from above.
Either way, make life imitate art with a still-life of a kiss.
Group Date: Give My Regards to Broadway
Much like visiting The Met, a trip to New York isn’t complete without a stop on Broadway. We recommend you check out the New Amsterdam Theatre, which hosts the musical “Aladdin.” From the stage to the paintings on the wall, the experience of seeing a show at the New Amsterdam Theatre is unlike anywhere else on Broadway.
Kaitlyn and her guys had the fortunate opportunity to audition for a walk-on role on the show that evening. Though you and your dates will likely not be able to win an onstage opportunity, you can nonetheless spend an evening at the theater or make up your own play!
When you’re done with the theater, share a kiss with your love under the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball, which drops every January 1 at midnight. Much like the ball signifies the start of a new year, this date and this kiss could be the beginning of a new chapter in your relationship.
Rose Ceremony: A Home Run to Romance
Kaitlyn and her guys took their cocktail party to Citi Field, where they schmoozed near the pitcher’s mound. If you’re there during baseball season, head to the ballpark for a New York Mets game. Whether you root for the home team, the away team, or no team at all, this date will be a home run.
New York City attracts millions of visitors every year, and with good reason. The twinkling lights, food scene, and culture all contribute to the Big Apple’s allure. With a trip like this, you’ll fall even more in love with your dream partner in the city that never sleeps.
