'Click Bait's' Joe Amabile Tells Mike & Bryan How Joining Bachelor Nation Made Him More Vulnerable
“Click Bait’s” Joe Amabile stopped by “Talking It Out” to join co-hosts Mike Johnson and Bryan Abasolo for a special Bachelor Nation podcast crossover episode.
During his chat with Mike and Bryan, Joe explained how the franchise has helped him feel more comfortable opening up and making himself vulnerable.
“With my mother, she was always very much open and you could pretty much tell her anything. We could always go and talk to my dad, but being vulnerable just was never a thing, never in my family,” the handsome grocer said of his upbringing in Chicago.
“Even being in my 30s and going on ‘The Bachelorette,’ it was, ‘You better not cry on that show,’” the 34-year-old added, recalling his loved ones’ reaction to a short-lived stint on Becca Kufrin’s Season 14 of the series in 2018. “They laugh at it, too.”
After “The Bachelorette,” Joe appeared on Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise” — where he found love with Kendall Long, though they ultimately called it quits in 2020 — and later competed on Season 27 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Despite his extensive experience on reality TV, Joe admitted that life in the public eye continues to be uncomfortable at times.
“I don’t want to be vulnerable on television,” he said, explaining that his inner evolution has flourished off-camera. “I’m more comfortable now being vulnerable in a relationship or with my friends. But as far for the world to see, yeah, I still have an issue with that.”
However, Joe commended the Bachelor franchise for paving his path to become a “better person.”
“I’m a hundred percent different. The show really was great for me. I learned a lot about myself. Even just being in a relationship, I never went there with a girl. [It used to be] very surface level. It was a trust issue for me,” he elaborated. “I’ve learned to work on that. And there’s still a lot I need to work on, but I’ve been able to open up that way for sure.”
Elsewhere in his interview, Joe revealed whether he would participate in another season of “Bachelor in Paradise” — and confessed who he is currently crushing on within Bachelor Nation, including “Bachelor” Season 24 star Victoria Fuller and a mystery contestant from Matt James’ Season 25.
