This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Ashley Hebert Announced as the Season 7 Bachelorette on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'
This week marks 10 years since Ashley Hebert was announced as the Season 7 Bachelorette.
The exciting news came via an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” — during which the late-night talk show host expressed his enthusiasm at the 26-year-old dental student leading the franchise.
“Do you promise, on national television, to date 25 men simultaneously without complaining? Do you promise to make sure the hot tubs are clean and have enough chlorine and their bacteria levels are low?” Jimmy jokingly asked Ashley.
“I’ll do my best with that!” she replied.
Later, in an interview with People magazine, Ashley explained why she was thrilled to be the Bachelorette following an unforgettable run competing for Brad Womack’s heart on Season 15 of “The Bachelor.” (Ashley came in third place, while Brad ultimately chose finalist — and future Bachelorette — Emily Maynard over runner-up Chantal O’Brien.)
“I feel like this season taught me so much about myself,” Ashley told the publication at the time. “It primed me for a new relationship. I’m ready to meet 25 new guys. Bring ’em on!”
She added, “I’m open hearted and interested in meeting the guys and hopefully falling in love.”
As Bachelor Nation is well aware, Ashley’s Bachelorette journey concluded with an engagement to finalist J.P. Rosenbaum. The pair eventually tied the knot in December 2012 during a televised wedding ceremony, attended by notable “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” alums such as Ali Fedotowsky, Jason and Molly Mesnick, and Ryan and Trista Sutter.
Ashley and J.P. went on to start a family and now share son Fordham, 6, and daughter Essex, 4. However, in October, J.P. and Ashley announced plans to separate after nearly eight years of marriage. Despite their split, the two — who are based in Miami — have remained close, celebrating Halloween and Essex’s fourth birthday together with their kids.
These days, Ashley is living out her dream as a pediatric dentist. The mom of two recently opened her own practice, Premier Pediatric Dentistry, in Coral Gables, Florida.
“I’ve received an outpouring of love and support from so many of you in the community. I am grateful for your confidence and trust in me with your children; they are truly family to me,” she wrote of her new venture in a March 1 Instagram post.
“I am excited to announce that for the past two years I have been working endlessly to build the Pediatric Dental Office of my dreams!” she continued. “We planned each detail of our office to be safe, effective and fun for our patients! I am excited to share my greatest dream-come-true with you!”
