Experience Copenhagen, Denmark, Like Rachel Lindsay on 'The Bachelorette'
Vacation is a time to be happy, so why not head to one of the happiest countries in the world?! Much like Norway, Denmark sits among the top three spots in the World Happiness Report index — it comes in second behind Finland and above Norway.
Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, is a thriving seaside city bustling with world-renowned restaurants, museums, and other sites. Aside from its place on the happiness index, two of the top five restaurants in the world call Copenhagen home. This city has had a resurgence in tourism numbers, and it’s easy to see why.
Rachel Lindsay traveled to Copenhagen on Season 13 of “The Bachelorette,” and here’s how to experience it just like her.
Where to Stay
If it’s chilly when you arrive in Copenhagen, there’s a chance you’ll want to step right into a hot tub to defrost a bit. You can do that while looking out over the sea at Marienlyst Beach Hotel, where Rachel and the guys stayed. Don’t hesitate to dine at one of their elegant restaurants or relax in their pools and spa.
Once you’re all settled in, lace up those shoes and set off to see the city on your romantic getaway!
One-on-One Date: Let's Go!
Many bodies of water weave through and around Copenhagen, so you can get a taste of the city seeing many of them by boat. You and your date can take your love to the water and rent a GoBoat to navigate you through Copenhagen’s canals.
The solar-powered boat can even take you to CopenHot, an outdoor spa of sorts. Hop in a hot tub, a spa boat, or a sauna, and relax as you and your love look out at the city together. This takes turning up the heat in your relationship to a whole new level!
Once you’re all nice and relaxed, get your hearts racing by visiting the city’s famous Tivoli Gardens, the oldest amusement park in the world. This gives a whole new meaning to emotional roller-coaster.
Group Date: Looking for a Vi-KING
One can’t visit Scandinavia without paying homage to and learning about the Vikings. Take your group and head over to the National Museum of Denmark for your one-stop Viking shop. Much like the Vikings, use this as an opportunity to explore new facets of your relationships.
Rachel and the guys competed in a version of traditional Viking games during their group date. Although you and your group may not have that same accessibility, you can still find fun ways to see who has the chops to win your heart, whether that’s biking around the city or cooking up a traditional Danish meal. Copenhagen prides itself on being an eco-friendly city, and your relationship is one thing that’s sure to sustain!
There’s a clear reason why tourists flock to the Danish city for family and romantic vacations alike. From the history to the scenery, you’ll feel like you’ve found a haven in Copenhagen.
