Celebrity Hair Guru Justin Anderson Dishes on His Famous Clients — and Why He 'Didn't Mesh' with Katy Perry
Renowned hair colorist Justin Anderson stopped by “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” and dished on some of his A-list clients.
As fans of Justin are well aware, he’s painted an array of famous manes, including those for Oscar winners and pop divas. His work is also beloved by reality TV talent; a long list of Real Housewives and Bachelor Nation stars have put their tresses in his capable hands.
“Honest to God, and I’m not sugarcoating this, my celebrities are my greatest clients,” Justin said on “Click Bait.” “The worst are the bored housewives in Beverly Hills, women who had a lot of time on their hands to complain about nitpicky things, like, ‘This one piece of blonde could be a little bit lighter.’ And I’m like, ‘Girl, come on.’”
The dpHUE founder continued, “Honestly, the celebrities, they were the best. They were busy, kind of wanted to get in and out. They’re also super interesting. I like to have deep, interesting conversations. I got to work with some of the greatest women.”
Sharing more about his starry clientele, Justin said that he gets along great with Jennifer Aniston (“out of this world amazing”); Gwyneth Paltrow (“amazing”); Margot Robbie (“incredible”); and Miley Cyrus (“one of my best friends”). But there have been two notable celebrities with whom he didn’t jell.
“I’m an open book. I’ll say anything. But I don’t ever want to be that person to be like, ‘I don’t like so-and-so. They’re not a good person.’ Maybe we didn’t vibe. There are some of those women who take life a bit too seriously that weren’t a match,” he said. “There were a few.”
Justin elaborated, “I mean, everybody’s favorite daytime talk show host — I still love her as a person, but working with her was different. Sometimes working with somebody feels like you’re working for them and I didn’t like that.”
Being more specific, the blonde aficionado revealed that Katy Perry wasn’t his cup of tea — and vice versa.
“Katy Perry, I didn’t mesh with. We just had different personalities. I think Katy Perry wants a gay guy to work on her who’s like, ‘Yas, queen! You go, girl! You’re fabulous!’ That’s not fun to me,” he said. “I want to talk, and she didn’t want to get close. So, I couldn’t say, ‘I don’t like Katy Perry, she’s not a good person.’ We just didn’t click. We didn’t vibe.”
