This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Rachel Lindsay Goes Horseback Riding on Rodeo Drive
This week marks four years since Rachel Lindsay went horseback riding on Rodeo Drive on “The Bachelorette” Season 13.
As viewers will recall, Rachel lured contestant Anthony Battle away for a horseback ride down Rodeo Drive, shopping for cowboy gear in a series of high-end stores. By the end of their unique one-on-one date, Rachel had uncovered a fun side to a serious man.
“The date card comes in this morning, and I was definitely excited to see my name on that card for sure. The date card said, ‘Meet me at the rodeo,’” Anthony said in a confessional. “There’s bullfighting at the rodeo, so if I’ve got to be matador for a day, I’ll do that. Horses, bulls, rodeo clowns, I’m going to have fun regardless of what it is, you know?”
While he was prepared for an intense time with Rachel, Anthony admitted that he “just started laughing” after seeing Rachel on top of a horse in the middle of Beverly Hills’ iconic shopping district. “The pieces started coming together and I couldn’t help myself,” he said.
“When I said, ‘Meet me at the rodeo,’ I really meant, ‘Meet me in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive,’” Rachel told Anthony. “Today, we’re going to do things that you can only do in L.A. — and that includes riding on horses down Rodeo Drive. So, you ready to saddle up?”
Anthony expressed excitement at the plan — even if he had never been horseback riding. “There’s no horses in Chicago,” said the self-identified “city boy.”
Rachel and Anthony made their way into a few boutiques — yes, on their horses — and tried on coordinating cowboy boots and hats. “I can bring you back to Texas now,” Rachel — a native of Dallas — told Anthony. “Now you look the part!”
Elsewhere, the pair treated their horses to treats from Sprinkles’ cupcake ATM.
“We are riding on horses down Rodeo Drive in the middle of Beverly Hills. Traffic is stopping for us. People are stopping and staring,” Rachel told the camera. “Literally, you can see the people snapping necks.”
She added, “Today has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Anthony rolled with the punches as far as riding on the horses and he was great, and I think he embraced every moment of it and I loved that.”
Rachel’s “Bachelorette” journey ended in 2017 with an engagement to now-husband Bryan Abasolo. The couple tied the knot in August 2019 and now live together in Los Angeles.
