New Mom Lesley Murphy Opens Up About Her 'Humbling' Postpartum Fitness Journey
Months after welcoming daughter Nora Blanche with fiancé Alex Kavanagh, Lesley Murphy is opening up about her postpartum fitness journey.
The Bachelor Nation star took to her Instagram Story on Thursday to shed light on the challenges of working out again following an extended break.
“This is what it looks like to go back to Orangetheory after a year and a half,” Lesley said in a video clip, filming herself from her car in the parking lot of an Orangetheory Fitness studio in her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas.
“Postpartum fitness is humbling by itself but then trying to go back to something like Orangetheory after a year and a half is double,” she added.
In a subsequent slide, Lesley shared a selfie accompanied by an encouraging message for fellow new moms. “Lesson of the day: Don’t compare yourself to strangers. Filters, angles, apps create an illusion,” she wrote. “Embrace your everything, new & old rolls included.”
Back in March, the franchise alum spoke about acclimating to first-time motherhood in an exclusive interview with BachelorNation.com.
“Seeing Nora smile, seeing her happy, just fuels me. It is the best. And then on the flipside of that, seeing her fussy and seeing her crying kills me,” she explained at the time. “I don’t know what’s wrong and, of course, you can’t ask a baby what’s wrong and so that is on the other side of the spectrum. The emotions are just a full-blown roller coaster.”
Lesley elaborated, “It’s a surrender of your old life. I always knew parenthood would be completely impossible to prepare yourself for. It’s overnight that your life changes. It’s beautiful and amazing and exhausting and really freaking hard. It’s so many emotions wrapped up in one.”
