High Notes with Gabe Baker: Catching Up with the 'Listen to Your Heart' Star
It’s been just over a year since the inaugural season of “The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart” finished airing on ABC.
The spin-off followed single singers and songwriters hoping to find love with each other through a shared passion for music. As viewers will recall, contestants performed well-known songs together — while also exploring their relationships with the help of “Bachelor”-style dates that focused on music. A handful of notable artists came in to act as guest judges throughout the series, such as Kesha, Jason Mraz, Toni Braxton, Ashlee Simpson, and Jewel.
But it was the gifted cast members who continuously stole the show with powerful vocals and, of course, major drama. So, what have they been up to since the competition concluded and cameras went down?
BachelorNation.com is progressively checking in with the cast, who are sharing love life updates, favorite memories from filming, musical milestones, and more.
Below, we’re catching up with Gabe Baker, whose soulful voice and kind heart made him an instant fan favorite.
While the talented musician left of his own accord during Week 3 after his romantic pursuits fizzled, his career has continued to flourish following an exciting move to Nashville — where he can’t wait to find the “right woman.” Read on for Gabe’s high notes!
What did you learn about yourself from competing on “Listen to Your Heart”?
I learned about how much more I can be my full self when I live honestly and confidently from the heart — not to be so cliché with the title of the show.
How did the show help you grow as an artist?
Being surrounded by a house full of incredible musicians gave me the validation to pursue music as a career versus as a hobby. I credit my time on the show with my incredible castmates as a major reason for sparking my music career as it currently stands.
What is your favorite memory from filming?
I look back fondly on the many jam sessions around the piano or passing the guitar around, and the regular early morning deep life talks I shared at the “circle” table on the back patio right outside the guys’ room.
If you have any regrets from your time on the show, what would you have done differently?
The one thing I would have done differently would be a little less “walking on eggshells” and overthinking things.
What was your proudest moment on the show?
My proudest moment was me comfortably holding to my integrity even though it meant me leaving the show.
What has been your biggest musical accomplishment since doing the show?
My biggest musical accomplishment has been my move to Nashville in July of 2020 to advance my music career.

How did the show impact your outlook on love?
The show didn’t have a negative or positive impact on my outlook on love. I am still excitingly expectant that the right woman will come in my life when she’s supposed to.
If you could only sing with two other “LTYH” contestants for the rest of your life, who would you choose?
Wow, tough decision to make... I’ll have to go with Chris [Watson] and Sheridan [Reed] since I have built the strongest friendships and music relationships with them since the show.
How would you describe your strongest friendship on the show and who was it with?
My strongest friendship on the show was with Chris. We were able to connect naturally as we shared similar values on faith, relationships, and music.
Would you ever date a musician again?
Yes, I would. Being able to share a commonality like music is very attractive and meaningful to me because of the deep connection that can be had with sharing and creating music together.
How would you describe your love life today?
I am presently single but honestly feel I am in the most emotionally ready and excited place in my life to give to the right woman.
What are you looking forward to in the rest of 2021?
I am looking forward most to the many music opportunities to come performing, recording, and releasing music, collaborating and building relationships as life in the music world opens up!
