Experience the Gold Coast of Australia Like Peter Weber on 'The Bachelor'
Australia’s Gold Coast is a desirable destination for couples.
The charming city is famous for its long sandy beaches, surfing spots, and elaborate system of canals and waterways. Inland, the Gold Coast is home to majestic mountain ridges, winding hiking trails, lush rainforests, and rare wildlife.
Peter Weber traveled to the Gold Coast on “The Bachelor” Season 24 — and here’s how you and your loved one can experience its wonders just like him!
Arrival
Settle in at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, a luxe establishment at the northern end of the Gold Coast. The resort features unprecedented access to three championship golf courses and Sanctuary Cove Country Club, plus a world-class marina, the region’s famous theme parks — including Dreamworld, Sea World, and Wet’n’Wild — and more landmarks. After a good night’s rest in your expansive suite, wake up and get ready to explore!
One-on-One Date: Wet and Wild
Take your date on a Jet Ski ride down the Gold Coast! After zipping through sparkling blue waters, pull your Jet Skis right onto the sand and make your way to a local beach bar for an intimate chat over drinks. When you’re finished, take a romantic dip in the ocean as you bask in the glow of a gorgeous sunset.
At night, head to the Garden Kitchen & Restaurant at The Star hotel for dinner, where you can choose from a decadent menu that includes signature entrées such as Milly Hill lamb shoulder and baked Bundaberg eggplant, among others. When it’s time for dessert, be sure to order the vanilla panna cotta, a long-standing favorite among patrons.
One-on-One Date: Heli to the Hinterlands
The next day, treat your significant other to a helicopter ride to the region’s iconic hinterlands. When you spot the rainforest, ask your pilot to land and then traverse your lush jungle surroundings. Find your way to Moran Falls in Lamington National Park, where you can sit and talk along the edge of the waterfall as you absorb the epic view.
In the evening, go to Songbirds Rainforest Retreat for a special dinner experience in the middle of the jungle. Afterward, book one of the resort’s unique bungalows and enjoy a sensual night alone.
One-on-One Date: Sky’s the Limit
Take bae to the Gold Coast’s legendary Surfer’s Paradise, where you can ride the waves if you’re feeling adventurous — or simply sunbathe together if you need some R&R.
No matter how you decide to spend your morning at the beach, get your adrenaline pumping in the afternoon by walking over to the Q1, a famously tall skyscraper along the coast, where you can go sky-climbing!
Together, step out of the building’s 78th floor — its highest! — and lean on each other for support as you make your way up to the tip of the skyscraper. After achieving such a feat — with the help of harnesses and licensed professionals by your side, of course — feast your eyes on incomparable views of the Gold Coast.
As you look out onto the shimmering shoreline with your partner, reflect on all the incredible memories you just made Down Under.
