Bachelorette Katie Thurston on Rewatching Blake Moynes' Romantic Proposal: 'I Cry Every Time'
Following their engagement on Monday night’s finale of “The Bachelorette” Season 17, Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” to chat with Becca Kufrin and guest co-host Tayshia Adams about their journey as a couple.
During the interview, Katie explained how it feels to rewatch Blake’s romantic proposal, which took place in the scenic desert of New Mexico.
“Watching it back, I noticed [one thing]. It might not be as obvious to viewers but, to me, I wasn’t sure he was proposing until he got down on one knee,” she said. “So, as he’s talking, I’m thinking he’s gearing up to say, ‘I love you, but let’s wait.’ And, so, I was just really happy. I was like, ‘OK, that’s fine. I’m just ready to leave with him no matter what.’”
Katie continued, “And then when he gets down on one knee, I’m truly just so shocked that it’s happening — because I had already, in that moment, accepted that he was not going to. And, so, I cry every time I watch it. It makes me happy.”
The Washington native — who recently relocated to San Diego, where she bought a home — went on to say that she appreciated having co-hosts Tayshia and Kaitlyn Bristowe there to celebrate the special moment with her and Blake.
“I love that they were there because if he was proposing to me in the real world, you kind of have your friends and family hiding in the bushes, and then when you say yes, they come out,” said Katie. “It just felt kind of like the perfect way to wrap it up, say our goodbyes to them because they had helped us the entire time, and then quite literally ride off into the sunset [on horses].”
Blake agreed, adding, “It was the cherry on top.”
