Katie Thurston & Blake Moynes Discuss Whether His Late Arrival Impacted Their 'Bachelorette' Journey
Following their engagement on Monday night’s finale of “The Bachelorette” Season 17, Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” to chat with Becca Kufrin and guest co-host Tayshia Adams about their journey as a couple.
During the interview, Katie and Blake shared their thoughts on his late arrival to the show — and discussed whether it impacted their reality TV love story.
“I don’t think [things] would have [changed]. The overall season, sure,” Katie told Becca and Tayshia. “But our relationship and us being together at the end, I don’t think so. I remember meeting everyone for the first time. I pictured had I met him the same way I did if it was the first night, it would have been the same feelings of like, ‘Wow, this is instant. It feels so easy. It feels so natural.’”
The Washington native went on to say that her now-fiancé had an edge over her other suitors due to his previous experience in the franchise, competing for Clare Crawley and Tayshia’s final roses on “The Bachelorette” Season 16 in 2020.
“I think what stood out and what he kind of had in his favor was he had gone through this before, so there was a level of chill in him in terms of, like, the cameras didn’t faze him and the environment [didn’t faze him],” Katie explained. “That made me feel calm because I’m nervous as the lead. If anything, I wish he was there night one because that was a crazy night in general. But I think the outcome would have absolutely been the same.”
Blake agreed, saying, “Yes, I think no matter how or when I came on, I had a certain level of confidence in myself with having experience knowing how this works. Also, the intuition I had about Katie — regardless of when I met her along the way — was going to be the same and it would have probably all come out the same way.”
In fact, the handsome Canadian believes his connection with Katie “probably would’ve been stronger” had he been there from the beginning.
“Because I would’ve been there longer,” he said. “I think the storyline of things maybe would have changed. But aside from that, no.”
