This week marks two years since Jade Roper Tolbert and Tanner Tolbert stopped by the “Bachelor in Paradise” finale to share the story of Jade unexpectedly giving birth to son Brooks in their bedroom closet.

Fans saw Jade and Tanner first fall in love on the beach during Season 2 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” then go on to marry and have three children together: daughter Emerson, 4, and sons Brooks, 2, and Reed, 11 months.

Shortly after Brooks was born, Jade posted on Instagram, “I gave birth at home last night accidentally, in our master closet. I’ve been still processing the shock of this all, as this was not all at what I had planned, but I am so so thankful for each person who helped bring our son into the world safely. I’ll share my whole birth story soon.”

When she joined the “BIP” finale to reveal what really happened during her son’s birth, it turned into an emotional experience for everyone.

Jade started off by explaining that she and Tanner were having a normal evening and were actually watching “The Bachelorette” finale.

At one point, Jade said, “I felt this pop, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I think that was my water.’ So we called my midwife and my contractions were four to five minutes apart, and she was like, ‘Just time them, you’re fine. Sometimes it takes 24 hours.’”

That wasn’t the case, though. After the couple finished watching “The Bachelorette,” Jade took a bath and then “the contractions just went crazy.”

A mere 45 minutes later, Jade delivered baby Brooks on the floor of their master bedroom closet.

When Jade was asked what was going through her mind at that moment, she got choked up.

Jade said, “Well, I know people have their babies at home all the time, but since it was unplanned, it was just so much adrenaline and fear. The paramedics, thankfully, got there just in time and I held him in. And then he came out, and it was just all these emotions.”

Jade added that Tanner was standing by to deliver their baby just in case the paramedics couldn’t make it in time.

Tanner chimed in, sharing, “I was on the phone with dispatch and there were towels and I was down there, and I could see the whole head of the baby, and this was before the medics got there. They told her to try not to push if you can, then two minutes later the medics got there, then about a minute later the baby was here.”

The two shared a special video Tanner took of the moment Brooks arrived into the world, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience.

Today, everyone is doing great, and Brooks just celebrated his second birthday. Jade took a moment to honor his memorable birth, posting, “Two years ago, our sweet Brooksy came into this world with a fury. A 70 minute labor brought me to my knees in our closet and there he was born! I’ve learned so much from this sweet, brave, keen boy. He is incredibly special and I feel he’s in this world to do amazing things. Happy Birthday, Brooksy!”

Jade gave birth to their son Reed at home in November 2020, but this time, the home birth was planned.
