‘Click Bait’: Demar Jackson Discusses Joining ‘Paradise’ Late in the Season, Plus: Why He Stayed Out of the Drama Between Aaron & Ivan
Bachelor Nation first met Demar Jackson on Season 16 of “The Bachelorette,” and he was one of the guys the ladies of “Bachelor in Paradise” were most hoping to see on the beach this summer.
Demar didn’t join the cast until this week, and he stopped by “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” to discuss what it was like to arrive so late in the game. He shared that while he wasn’t able to connect with people as much as he was hoping, he did the best he could.
“Coming in late, I feel like nobody has a really fair shot, but at the same time, given the amount of time I was allotted, I felt like I definitely gave it my all in that amount of time,” he said.
“Click Bait” co-host Joe Amabile also chimed in, saying that the timing for when Demar and Ed joined “Paradise” was also unfortunate because they had to evacuate hours later due to a dangerous tropical storm.

Co-host Natasha revealed that her group date with Ed, Chelsea, and Demar actually got cut short because of the storm too. She added that while Demar didn’t hit the beach until later in the season, he was still a hot topic among the ladies.
She revealed that all the women were wondering if and when he would join “Paradise,” to which Demar responded, “Awww, that actually makes me feel good about it.”
And while he joined “Paradise” later than he’d hoped, he actually enjoyed the experience more than his time on “The Bachelorette.” He explained that the format felt more natural to him, with multiple women he was interested in talking to, rather than having to compete for the attention of one woman.
“It gave me the luxury and the freedom to more so be myself,” he said.
Still, Demar found himself interested in model Chelsea Vaughn and took her on a date, even though other men were also vying for her heart (and her rose).

Demar discussed the drama that escalated between Aaron Clancy and Ivan Hall after they both shared a kiss with the model during the pre-Rose Ceremony cocktail party. And while Aaron and Ivan got pretty heated, Demar stayed out of the drama.
Natasha recalls that moment, saying, “It was tough and definitely crazy in real time being there, but I remember thinking, ‘Demar, this unproblematic king over here, he’s not in this and he’s not even trying to get in this,’ and I loved that.”
Demar explained that as all the drama was unfolding, his main priority was Chelsea. He said he was checking on her and seeing if she needed water or something to eat.
He noted that the other two men started to make it feel more about them than about wanting to pursue Chelsea. “I wasn’t doing anything but spending my time that I had to offer to her, and that’s how I wanted to go about it,” Demar noted.
He said he’s happy with how he handled things compared to the others on the beach. “I don’t regret that approach,” he said. “If I would’ve been the third person in that fight, we all would’ve been kicked out. There wouldn’t have been any reason for me to hop into a fight that wasn’t about me. I just wanted to be there for Chelsea, and while we were spectating the fight, I just wanted to get her mind off that. That’s the approach I wanted to take.”
Sounds like a stand up-guy! We’ll have to tune in next week to see how the rest of the drama unfolds.
