EXCLUSIVE: Serena Pitt Discusses the Traits Michelle Young’s Future Husband Should Have, Plus: What She Told Michelle Before Her ‘Bachelorette’ Journey Began
Here’s to new beginnings!
Serena Pitt just got engaged to Joe Amabile on “Bachelor in Paradise,” and now she’s showing up to support her friend Michelle Young as she begins her journey as the Bachelorette.
Serena and Michelle became close friends on Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” and their friendship continued with regular Zoom hangs and visits after they got back home.
Now, Serena is chatting exclusively with BachelorNation.com at Michelle’s Bachelorette Brunch to discuss the upcoming season.
Serena said she’s ready for the world to get to know Michelle and how incredible she is.
“I’m most excited for people to see so much more of Michelle this season, like who she is, all of her amazing qualities. On ‘The Bachelor’ you got to see a snippet of her, but she has so much to share with the world,” the Bachelor Nation star explained.

When it comes to what kind of guy Serena thinks should end up with Michelle, Serena says her friend needs someone who can match both her energy and ambitions.
Serena explained, “I think Michelle should be with someone who is charismatic, goofy, and has a great/fun personality that matches her. Michelle needs someone who can play off her energy and play off her jokes, but she also needs someone who is compassionate and driven and has similar goals as her. She is so motivated to make a change in this world and she needs a partner who cares about that as well.”
The Toronto native also revealed how she thinks Michelle might handle someone not coming on her season for the right reasons.
“Michelle has no time for the BS. I knew that about her going in and I’ve heard her say it since she’s come out. There is no time for any BS. She’s not here for drama. She is a teacher, and she will sniff it out right out of the gate. If someone is coming here for the wrong reasons, bringing drama, and not focusing on their relationship, she will send them home,” Serena explained.
And as a happily engaged woman who found love on a Bachelor franchise show, Serena shared some of the advice she gave Michelle before she started her journey as Bachelorette.
Serena explained that she got back from “Paradise” three weeks before Michelle left for “The Bachelorette,” so they were able to find some time to chat.

The Bachelor Nation star explained that they both left Matt James’ season single and heartbroken in different ways, so they both felt “hopeful, but a little skeptical” looking for love again through this process.
So after Serena found love in “Paradise,” she told Michelle, “Look, I was really scared. I didn’t know if it was going to work, but it did. And it worked because I leaned into it and gave myself to the process and I let the fear go.”
She continued, “I was just open and vulnerable and I have never been happier. I want you to end your experience as the Bachelorette as happy as possible, whether that’s single or engaged or whatever that means. So just lean into it and be yourself.”
And Serena has no doubt that Michelle will do just that, adding, “No matter how this season ends, I know that Michelle is going to follow her heart and do what’s best for her.”
We can’t wait to see how it all unfolds, starting tomorrow!
Be sure to tune in for Michelle’s Bachelorette season premiere on Tuesday, October 19, on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
