Joe Amabile & Tia Booth Hilariously Break Down Dating Trends from ‘Bae-Cationing’ to ‘Déjà Vuing’
Bachelor Nation star Joe Amabile and Tia Booth just had a hilarious conversation on their “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast.
The co-hosts dove into some of the expected dating trends for 2022 and shared their takes on whether they would participate (if they were single).
First up, they discussed something called “bae-cationing,” which is inviting a blind date or someone you’ve only dated a few times on vacation.
Tia started off by saying that taking a blind date on vacation is definitely “a little risky” and Joe chimed in that a blind date and someone you’ve gone on a few dates with are totally different.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “You cannot put those two things in the same category. A blind date or someone you just started dating are two totally different things. To go on an actual blind date vacation for two or three days with somebody, to me is insanity.”
Tia agreed, saying, “Blind dates in general don’t even really happen anymore because you can easily look somebody up, but a vacation, that’s gonna be on the news or a Lifetime movie. I don’t really think that’s smart.”
But she also shared that she’s actually gone on a bae-cation with someone she’d only dated a few times.
“I’ve been on a trip with someone that I hadn’t been dating for a very long time. We weren’t even officially dating or boyfriend and girlfriend; we had known each other for a month. We went on a trip and it was fine because we were in that ‘we really like each other’ phase. It was a hookup trip,” Tia explained.

Joe reacted to Tia’s story, saying, “If you’re going somewhere for the weekend with someone you just started talking to, you’re going to enjoy some sun and hookup and drink.”
The co-hosts couldn’t help but discuss one major concern when it comes to bae-cationing with someone you hardly know: using the bathroom.
Tia shared a tip from her bae-cation experience, saying, “We stayed at a resort, so if you’re in a hotel room with just one bathroom, you send them out to go to the lobby to get something and you go really fast in the room. Or you go down to the lobby. I don’t care to talk about it, though, that’s the thing.”
Joe agreed, saying even after months of dating, he and his fiancée Serena Pitt just experienced an uncomfortable bathroom situation on a recent vacation.
“I just say, ‘I would like you to exit the room because I need to use the washroom right now.’ Me and Serena just stayed at a hotel where the bathroom was part of the room. There was a door but it was see through,” Joe explained.
Tia said it’s always best and easiest to be upfront and even shared how fellow Bachelor Nation star Becca Kufrin handles needing to use the bathroom with her boyfriend Thomas Jacobs.
Tia revealed, “Becca just says she’s filing paperwork. She told me she tells Thomas she needs to go file some paperwork and then goes and uses the bathroom.”
And at the end of the day, both Joe and Tia decided that bae-cationing after a few dates is okay, but they wouldn’t recommend it for a blind date.
Next up, the co-hosts discussed something called déjà vuing, which they explained means doing the same things with your partner that you did with your ex. They referenced the Olivia Rodrigo song “Deja Vu” which is about exactly this.
At first, Joe and Tia defended the concept with Joe, saying, “How much stuff is there to do in life anyways? I feel passionate about some of the restaurants I go to, so if I have gone there with an ex, I’m not going to disregard that restaurant with a new partner.”
And Tia agreed, sharing, “In Nashville, sure there’s a lot of restaurants, but I’ve been on a date with someone at a restaurant and then gone out with another guy at the same place. You’re not going to solely associate it with one person if it’s a good place.”
But there are some things they said would cross a line when it comes to déjà vuing, and Joe had a hilarious old school example.
He said, “Now I wouldn’t make a mixtape for someone, and then make the same mixtape for another person.”
