Michelle Young’s ‘Bachelorette’ Journey Ends with a Historic Engagement to Nayte!
He put a ring on it!
Michelle Young’s journey as the Bachelorette ended Tuesday night with a romantic proposal from Nayte after an episode of ups and downs for the couple.
After saying goodbye to runner-up Brandon J., the Season 18 lead headed back down to the picture-perfect beach in Mexico, where she waited for the man who won her heart.
It wasn’t an easy goodbye with Brandon J., but Michelle knew that Nayte had her heart. He received her very first rose of the season and her very last, which has happened before with many iconic “Bachelorette” couples, like JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers and Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo.
When Michelle and Nayte first saw each other on proposal day, he spilled his heart out to Michelle one last time before getting down on one knee.
Nayte said, “The very first night I met you, I knew right then and there that we had a connection that I wanted to hold on to. The second night that we were together, we talked about running away together. I’m standing in front of you right now and the feelings are the same. I want to run away with you. I want to run away to forever with the woman that I’ve come to love. It’s this amazingly crazy, wow kind of love. Through this journey, you’ve shared a lot of vulnerable sides of your past and I know that you’ve felt unseen at times, and I want to let you know that I am completely prepared, willing, and ready to make sure that you are always chosen first and seen now, tomorrow, and for the rest of our lives. I love you, Michelle.”
Michelle responded, “I am not willing to face the fear of walking away from this without you. I have never felt a love like this before. I love you with my entire heart. I don’t ever want to think about waking up next to anyone besides you and doing life with anyone besides you. At the end of this, I wanted to be standing in front of my soul mate and he is definitely standing right in front of me.”
Nayte immediately replied, saying how much he loved Michelle and never wanted to let go before dropping down to one knee asking, “Michelle Ann Young, will you marry me?”
Michelle said, “Yes, of course!” and the two embraced and kissed as Michelle said, “We made it! We really get to run away together now.”
Nayte called himself the “happiest guy in the world,” and we couldn’t be happier for these two!
With their engagement, Michelle and Nayte made history as the first couple of color to get engaged on “The Bachelorette.”
Michelle also previously made history with having the first top four that were all people of color.
Cheers to a historic season, a happily engaged couple, and a BRIGHT future for Michelle and Nayte!
We can’t wait to watch these two change the world together!
