‘The Bachelor’s’ Ency Shares the Story of How She Ended Up on the Show
Ever wonder how Bachelor Nation stars end up on the show?
“The Bachelor’s” Ency stopped by the “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast and shared the story of how she got cast.
Ency, a sales manager, said she’d always been focused on her career over dating.
The Bachelor Nation star explained, “Honestly, I have been very invested in my career. Dating is an area I wasn’t really focused on or putting a lot of my energy into. That really propelled me to lean into going onto this experience. I wanted the opportunity to explore.”
But since she was so invested in her career, she wasn’t actually the one who applied. She had not one but two loved ones submit her application for the show.
Ency said, “My best friend had nominated me. She sent me a random text one morning saying, ‘I need your height and weight information now.’ I actually didn’t ask why at first. I just let it be and sent her my information. A few hours passed and I asked her why, and she told me she nominated me to be on ‘The Bachelor.’

“I laughed it off thinking that they get thousands of submissions and there’s just no way,” she continued. “I went about my day, but a few months later I was having a sleepover with my cousin and she confessed to me that she submitted an application on my behalf. So it was a different person, but now I’d been submitted twice. I was laughing, wondering if they were talking behind my back.”
Ency jokingly added, “I think they knew I needed help to find a partner. They were like, ‘She’s too single, let’s put her somewhere where she can explore that!’”
But months went by and she hadn’t heard from anyone on the show, so she didn’t think much of it.
Then one day while sitting in traffic, Ency got a call from casting.
She shared, “I was on the 101 freeway, which is a very busy highway in L.A. I was so bored because I was stuck in horrible rush hour traffic. I don’t ever pick up random spam calls, but I was so bored I was like, I’m gonna pick up the phone call. As soon as I picked up, sure enough it was the casting producer.”
Ency went on, “At first I wondered if I was getting punked because it had been months since those submissions. She told me she was for real and that she’d been in casting for over 10 years. We had a great 40-minute conversation and it took off from there. As I was going through the process, I really connected with all the producers I was meeting. I was having a lot of fun throughout the process and by the end of it, I said, ‘Sign me up! This seems great.’”
Now, Ency is on our screens every week looking for love with Clayton Echard, so make sure you tune in Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC to see their love story unfold.
