Valentine’s Day is approaching, and here at Bachelor Nation, we love any excuse to cheers to love.
And the key to some Bachelor Nation stars’ hearts is actually through their stomachs.
Enjoying food together, whether that’s a home-cooked meal or a fancy date night out, is an extremely special way to connect.
So the former Bachelor, who met his girlfriend Rachael Kirkconnell on Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” is sharing their favorite romantic recipes.
Check out his exclusive interview with BachelorNation.com below!
Bachelor Nation: Is there a type of food you find to be the most romantic?
Matt James: Pasta! Everything else that she likes gives me gas, but Rachael is always kind even when I’m gassy, ha!
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
BN: Now, that’s love! Do you have a favorite meal that Rachael has made for you?
MJ: Rachael’s SALMON is the best! I also love when she makes scrambled eggs for breakfast. Oh, and her COOKIES are amazing!
BN: That all sounds delicious! Is there a favorite meal you’ve made for her?
MJ: Well… I like to order food and act like I made it, so I’ll order a bunch of Italian, put it on the stove and in pots, and serve it up to her when she comes over as though I cooked it. Shhh!
BN: Tell us more… Is any of it semi-homemade?
MJ: Yes, here’s what you’re going to do. If you’re not making pasta, you’re going to salt some water like you’re planning on boiling it for pasta. If you are going to make the pasta yourself, drop your pasta (penne is what we prefer) into the pot and boil (not too long, no one likes mushy pasta — we like it al dente). Then find the most authentic Italian restaurant around and order a bunch of their vodka sauce. Put the sauce in a pot and act as though you whipped it up. Drain your pasta and butter it so it doesn’t stick to the pot or plates. Serve the pasta and then put each person’s desired amount of vodka sauce on their dish. Make sure you have a LARGE block of Parmesan cheese that you can shave on top of your bowl and then eat! Dessert is also semi-homemade. Get a pint of Van Leeuwen ice cream and eat it with some homemade chocolate chip cookies! Enjoy!
BN: Sounds like a perfect date night. Happy Valentine’s Day, Matt and Rachael!
