Jen Saviano Shares Her Son’s Birth Story and Reveals If Labor and Delivery Went According to Plan
New mom Jen is opening up!
Bachelor Nation star Jen Saviano welcomed her son Wilder Reed to the world earlier this month.
Jen and her boyfriend Landon Ricker shared the exciting news on social media, writing, “He’s here. Wilder Reed. 8lb 10oz of pure heaven. We couldn’t be more in love with him.”
Since Wilder was born and throughout her entire pregnancy, Jen has been sharing updates with her hundreds of thousands of followers about all things new parenthood.
And most recently, Jen took to her Instagram Stories for a candid Q&A about Wilder’s birth and her labor and delivery experience.
Jen started out by revealing whether her labor and delivery went according to her birth plan, which she shared with her followers before giving birth.

The Bachelor Nation star wrote, “My birth plan didn’t go 100% according to plan considering I had to be induced, but everything else yes! I stayed firm on what I was comfortable/not comfortable with and the rest was pretty straightforward.”
And when it came to getting induced, Jen shared, “I was six days overdue and my amniotic fluid was dropping, so we had to schedule an induction. They started me on cytotec (an oral pill) at the hospital and everything thankfully progressed naturally and very quickly from there! My water broke and contractions picked up without pitocin.”
Fans also asked Jen about her experience with her medical team and if they respected her birth plan throughout her labor.
Jen said, “Respected, 100% yes. My nurses were all super sweet and asked to walk through the plan with me. I did have to push back on one thing that I felt strong about. They love to throw out the term ‘policy’ at the hospital. It would make anyone feel pressured or [intimidated], especially if you don’t know your rights ahead of time.”
She continued on, advising, “My Dr. knew what I was uncomfortable with and she was also able to advocate for me as soon as she walked in and miraculously it was no longer ‘policy.’ Just because something is routine or standard protocol for most, doesn’t mean it has to be for you. It’s your body, your labor, and you always have a say.”
Jen shared that she opted to have an epidural and shared her experience with pushing.
“My contractions picked up quickly and intensely after my water broke. I tried to hold off on the epidural for as long as I could because it can slow things down. But I could feel him RIGHT there, so thankfully I got it when I did. Very shortly after, I was 9.5 centimeters dilated and started to push. I only pushed for around 45 minutes,” Jen explained.
We’re so happy that Jen and her baby boy are both healthy and doing well after birth!
Sending their whole family continued love and congrats on this exciting new addition!
