Bachelor Nation Speaks Out on Tragic Mass School Shooting in Uvalde, Texas: ‘We Need to Do Better’
Demanding change.
On Tuesday, May 24, a gunman shot and killed 21 people — 19 students, a teacher, and one other adult — at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
Uvalde is a small city of about 16,000 residents and is approximately 85 miles west of San Antonio.
According to The Associated Press, the shooter opened fire at Robb Elementary School at about 11:30 a.m. after abandoning his vehicle, and it is believed police killed him.
Now, Bachelor Nation is speaking out about what happened and demanding change amid the pattern of tragic mass shootings in the United States.
Former Bachelorette and elementary school teacher Michelle Young wrote, “School is supposed to be a safe zone. The place to build friendships. The place to count on a hot meal. The place to search for passions. Not a place of fear. Not a place of hate. Not a place where students must search for ways to stay alive. We need to do better.”
Jason Tartick also posted, writing, “Our innocent civilians are being shot down and killed as they shop for milk and bread and our children are being murdered in their elementary classrooms…disgusted, distraught and beyond comprehension.”

Rachel Lindsay tweeted, “I am sick. This country is synonymous with mass shootings. My heart absolutely breaks for the children, staff and families at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The lack of progress around how to protect innocent lives from senseless gun violence is FAR past SHAMEFUL in this country.”
