Michelle Young & Becca Kufrin Share Thoughts on Gabby & Rachel Canceling Their First Rose Ceremony
First night feels!
Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia’s highly anticipated season of “The Bachelorette” has officially kicked off.
After a historic night one with two Bachelorettes, two First Impression Roses, a canceled Rose Ceremony, and more, “Bachelor Happy Hour” co-hosts Becca Kufrin and Michelle Young are breaking it all down.
On this week’s episode of their podcast, the co-hosts dished on how they felt about Gabby and Rachel canceling the Rose Ceremony.
Becca noted, “This is the first time ever in Bachelor Nation history that a night one Rose Ceremony was canceled.”
Michelle shared her thoughts on the decision first, saying, “If you are a loyal Bachelor Nation fan, you know that throughout the season, there will be one or two Rose Ceremonies that get canceled. I don’t think anyone expected it on the first night, but I actually really respected that.”
She went on, adding, “You do not get to talk to everybody and that is usually just with one lead. So imagine having two Bachelorettes and trying to talk to both of them. The amount of time isn’t enough for everything to take place. So I totally understand not wanting to really send a large portion of the men home. I applaud them for that.”
And Becca didn’t necessarily agree as a fan of the first Rose Ceremony.
The former Bachelorette said, “With the Rose Ceremony being canceled, listen, I’m all about canceling Rose Ceremonies, but I will say, going into this experience, that first Rose Ceremony is pretty special. So I feel like a part of that was kind of taken away from the men. It is a rite of passage, so I kind of wish the first one wasn’t canceled, but all the other ones, go ahead.”

But given the cancelation, Becca did respect how Gabby and Rachel decided to send home Joey, Justin Y., and Roby.
Becca said, “Honestly, I appreciated that they took those three men outside. It was a kinder way to send them home where they didn’t have to stand in front of the remaining 29 men. I’m sure it was a bummer for them because they weren’t expecting it, but realistically, it was faster.”
She continued on, saying, “It was already light outside, so they were all probably exhausted. I didn’t mind the fact that they removed those men and had a separate conversation. I felt like they gave them the time to explain why they made that decision.”
