Rachel & Gabby Share How Splitting the Guys into Groups Helped Them Feel More Chosen
Opening up.
This week, our Bachelorettes Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia stopped by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast for a candid conversation about their season so far.
Co-hosts Michelle Young and Becca Kufrin asked the leading ladies if they felt a different kind of competition among their men because there were two Bachelorettes.
Rachel started off by saying, “Fans always wonder if people actually like the lead or if it’s just because of the competition aspect on the show. I think for us, when there were two of us, I wondered if they really liked me or was it just because Gabby didn’t like them. It was a little bit different for us.”
Gabby also chimed in and shared her thoughts, saying that having two Bachelorettes actually made it feel less competitive in some ways.
She said, “At the beginning of our season, it was more about who isn’t going to get rejected by both or neither, so their egos were trying to save themselves from the rejection because there’s two of us. But I also think that later when we had our own journeys, it alleviated the competition because they had a choice.”

Gabby went on, saying, “They didn’t just feel like they had to pursue one person because there were two of us. Once we split into our two different journeys, we both felt chosen. Me and my guys and Rachel with hers. They did have a choice. We had a good grasp of who the other one was into right off the bat, even after limo entrances.”
Gabby shared that she and Rachel always had honest communication about who they were interested in and it made it feel less competitive.
“I was definitely like, ‘Rachel, these are your men. You explore them.’ It was never even a question. There was a lot of unspoken communication,” Gabby explained.
And Rachel added that they weren’t even interested in too many of the same men.
She said, “Like if something went wrong on Gabby’s date with Nate, there’s no way Nate could’ve come back to the house to date me. Once you went on a one-on-one, you were kind of spoken for.”
