Experience Thailand Like Sean Lowe on ‘The Bachelor’
For many, Thailand is synonymous with paradise. With its crystal-clear water, white sand beaches, spice-rich cuisine, humming nightlife, and copious cultural institutions, Thailand has something for everyone.
All these special aspects of Thailand make it one of the most romantic destinations in the world. It’s a perfect place for a group of friends or a couple in love to get away from outside distractions and soak up the country’s natural beauty.
Sean Lowe traveled to Krabi and Chiang Rai on Season 17 of “The Bachelor” and got engaged to Catherine Giudici. Here’s how you can experience the island just like them (the proposal part is up to you!).
Where to Stay
During their time in Thailand, Sean and his final three women visited two different cities. Their first stop was in Krabi, Thailand, where they stayed at the Anantara Si Kao Resort and Spa. Anantara Si Kao was set on serene Changlang Beach, and while this hotel is now closed, it’s still worth staying in this area. The region around Si Kao has remained largely unchanged for centuries. The area is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Asia, many completely deserted, encompassing the more than 45 pristine islands of Trang province. You are able to gain insight into the real Thailand as you get acquainted with the charms of a refreshingly uncommercial town.
And for their stay in Chiang Rai, Thailand, Sean and his final two women stay at the Pa Sak Tong villas. If you are looking for a secluded wellness retreat-like location, these villas are for you. The luxury estate is set among acres of sprawling gardens, ponds, and rice fields in Chiang Rai. The resort has only two villas and they rent to only one party at a time — meaning that you have total private and exclusive access to the estate during your stay. At Pa Sak Tong, you will enjoy world-class service with a personalized dedicated hostess, chef, and therapist team for complete unrivaled privacy in the picturesque heart of northern Thailand.
Sounds like a dream!
One-on-One Date: Experience Thailand Like a Local
For his first one-on-one date, Sean invited Lindsay to explore Krabi, Thailand, with him! The date started off with a tuk-tuk ride through the Trang province. They spent the day together in the Si Kao market area and they tried food from the local vendors, including a bug on a skewer and then a fried grasshopper. The day continued on Yong Ling Beach, where they fed monkeys and went for a sunset swim. When it came time for dinner, the two enjoyed their meal in front of traditional Thai floats and then watched a traditional Chak Phra festival, where Lindsay accepted Sean’s invitation to the Fantasy Suite.
One-on-One Date: A Romantic Boat Ride
Sean took Catherine on another one-on-one date and the two enjoyed the gorgeous Thailand waters. The couple went on a long-tail boat ride from Pak Meng pier and traveled to Ko Lanta District, where they swam together through Emerald Cave to their private, enclosed beach. For the dinner portion of their date, Sean and Catherine went to Anantara Si Kao Resort and Spa. They had a private dinner on the beach before heading to the Fantasy Suite, where they enjoyed their private Jacuzzi. How romantic!
Proposal: Ready to Thai the Knot!
If you are hoping to pop the question, we can’t think of a more romantic backdrop than the mountains of Thailand. During the season’s final Rose Ceremony, Sean proposed to Catherine at Anantara’s private hilltop sala with a view of the Mekong River at sunset. Talk about a dream proposal!
