Bachelor Nation fans first met Kira Mengistu on Season 26 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned for Season 8 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”

In “Paradise,” fans saw Kira at the center of a love triangle with Romeo and Jill.

Now, she’s stopping by the “Talking It Out with Bachelor Nation” podcast, where she opened up about her relationship with and Romeo prior to “Paradise.”

Kira revealed to co-hosts Mike Johnson and Bryan Abasolo that she and Romeo actually go way back.

She said, “Romeo and I actually went to school together. We graduated the same year at Harvard. We didn’t know each other super well, but we were definitely acquainted. We just weren’t in the same friend groups.”

Kira went on, saying, “I recognized him when the cast list for ‘Bachelorette’ came out. After I got on the show, he and I reconnected and texted about it and got friendlier. After the show, some things went down and the aftermath is playing out in ‘Paradise’ right now.”

She explained that the two got close after his season of “The Bachelorette” and her season of “The Bachelor.”

“In the New York scene, I would visit a lot. I was living in Philly at the time, but I would visit New York a lot. I would hang out with him. He likes to have fun, I like to have fun, so we would hang out together,” Kira explained.

But regardless of them hanging out prior to coming to the beach, Kira wanted to keep her options open.

She said, “I came in knowing we had a great connection before ‘Paradise,’ so I was hoping to rekindle it with him. However, I was definitely open to other guys. I was talking to some other guys on the beach. I know they didn’t show it in the episode, but I had conversations with almost everyone. I definitely felt a strong connection with Romeo, but I didn’t only have eyes for Romeo.”

Kira also discussed Jill and Romeo’s connection from before “Paradise” and whether she knew anything about their relationship.

Kira said, “Romeo was having conversations with multiple girls while he and I were having conversations. Jill and him were texting and talking a lot. She denied that she liked him. I explicitly asked if she was into Romeo and she said, ‘No, definitely not.’ So that’s how she comes into this. They were talking at the same time that he and I were talking and hanging out. It wasn’t a surprise to me, though, that he wanted to pursue something with Jill.”

She went on, explaining, “During one night out, Romeo and I ended up making out and Jill asked me about it later and she was very upset that I didn’t tell her that we had kissed. That clued me in that she may like him as more than a friend. If he was just a friend, she wouldn’t care that I kissed him. Going into ‘Paradise,’ I had no idea if she wanted to pursue him or not, though.”
