Experience Barcelona, Spain, Like Desiree Hartsock on ‘The Bachelorette’
Barcelona, Spain, has it all: fabulous wine, extraordinary food, unmistakable architecture, famous art, and some of the best nightlife in the world.
Barcelona is the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region and is known to be a perfect city to fall in love. With views of the Mediterranean Sea, delicious tapas, and must-see architecture, we can’t think of a more romantic destination.
Desiree Hartsock traveled to Barcelona on Season 9 of “The Bachelorette.” If you make your way here, follow along for how to have a vacation just like Des!
Where to Stay
Desiree and her men stayed at the Melia Sitges Hotel just outside Barcelona, Spain. The hotel overlooks the Mediterranean and has stunning pools for luxurious relaxation. It’s also fully equipped with a gym, restaurants, event center, romantic garden, and more! You can enjoy their delicious complimentary breakfast buffet and soak in the stunning views for your entire stay.
One-on-One Date: Exploring the City
For her first one-on-one date in Barcelona, Desiree invites Drew to sightsee and soak up the city with her. The two explore downtown Barcelona on a rainy afternoon, so they kick off their date by getting some hot chocolate. They stopped by the town fountain to drink out of it because rumor has it that if you drink from the fountain, you will return to Barcelona one day. Later in the day, Des and Drew went to Bubofor for Spanish tapas, and after their meal, they walked through the streets and danced to music by local musicians. Sounds like the perfect Barcelona day!
Group Date: Going for the Goal!
For her group date, Desiree invites six of her men on a very special adventure. She takes them to the stunning RCD Espanyol football stadium to play Europe’s number one sport: soccer, aka futbol! At first, her men were just playing around and practicing, but they were surprised with a game. Desiree’s men competed against some of Spain’s top soccer players from their all-women teams, and these ladies had skills!
One-on-One Date: Get in Touch with Your Creative Side
For her second one-on-one date in Spain, Des invites Zac to join her at the Saint Luc Centre de Practica Artistica. The two get to sketch male models that were posing for them before trying to draw each other’s faces. Zak eventually slips away and surprises Des by coming out in a robe revealing that he would be her next model. He poses in his underwear as Des tries to draw him. For the night portion of their date, Des and Zak go to the Freixenet wine cellars for dinner and enjoy the private setup just for them. They try a variety of local wines and eat delicious Spanish food!
