Blake Moynes Shares Update About His Infection and Surgery While in South Africa
Feeling the love!
Last week, Bachelor Nation star Blake Moynes’ mom Emily Moynes took to Instagram to share that Blake was on a conservation trip in Africa and had been dealing with scary health issues.
As fans know, Blake is a wildlife manager, and he’s still working in environmental conservation, including starting his own nonprofit organization called the Mowgli Moynes Fund.
Emily shared that while her son has been trying to save the elephants and rhinos from poachers, “He called and told me he had a really bad infection.”
Days later, she received another call saying that Blake needed surgery and asked for prayers for her son.
Now, Blake is sharing his own update with Bachelor Nation fans, as he has returned to phone service.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
He said, “Sorry I’ve been without my phone for some time! It’s been a heck of a month in South Africa. New experiences, new friends & new challenges. One of which is an injury that has unfortunately caused me to end my 7 week wildlife adventure in SA a little early…”
Blake went on and shared what happened during his travels, saying, “In short, I came out here to first join a group of men in a 4-5 week course to train as a wildlife ranger. To fully understand what it takes to be on the front line protecting wildlife & endangered species. I can assure you, it is not easy. Along the way I somehow got an infection in my foot that got bad quickly and sidelined me.”
Blake ended his post sharing when he will hopefully be returning home, writing, “Through the healing process I’ll be taking part in what I can of the remaining (non physical) training before I am well enough to fly home in ideally a week! Appreciate the kind words and support! I'm now honestly mostly just frustrated that all my other awesome wildlife projects I had planned in South Africa after my grueling ranger training will now have to wait!”
We’re continuing to keep Blake in our thoughts and hope he makes it home safely soon!
