Bachelor Nation: Thank you so much for chatting with us, Zach! How has this experience as the Bachelor been for you so far?

Zach Shallcross: Thank you! Bachelor Nation was my very first interview when starting this journey, so this is a full-circle moment for me. So far, everything for me has been so focused on having fun and getting out of my comfort zone. I’ve been doing stuff that is not so easy, but we’ve all been learning a lot about each other. Everything I’ve done with every single date, like seeing my family, having a night at the museum, getting to have fun with Latto, it’s all been really exciting and really fun. It just has a different feel to it.

BN: Love to hear that! Have you learned anything about yourself being on this side of the process?

ZS: Oh yeah, I’ve learned a lot. What I’ve learned the most is that it’s completely healthy and okay to share vulnerable pieces of myself with these women. I am expecting them to be open with me when they’re comfortable, so I need to make sure that I’m doing that so they can feel comfortable enough to share with me.

BN: Absolutely. How are you making the most of your one-on-one time with the women?

ZS: I do know how limited time can be with the lead and it goes by so quickly, so I’m really putting an emphasis on making sure all the women are included on the dates. I don’t want there to be a week where someone doesn’t get any time. I talk to everyone at every after-party and every cocktail party. I make sure that we at least have one-on-one opportunities because while they may be short, I want to make sure I at least have time with everyone.

BN: That sounds great. I know it’s still somewhat early, but do you feel like this process is working for you so far?

ZS: It’s still early, but that being said, I was not expecting to feel this way this quick!

BN: Oh, how exciting! Has there been a specific highlight for you so far?

ZS: There have been so many great moments. I don’t know if I can pick just one! Getting to see my family on my first one-on-one date was really special. Family is so important to me and that was awesome seeing them that early on. Also, having the entire natural history museum to myself over the night, was so cool. You can’t do that ever! It’s really just been everything. Everything has been so much fun.
