Zach Shallcross Responds to Being Called a ‘Boring’ Bachelor
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans are watching Zach Shallcross’ journey to find love unfold each week on Season 27 of “The Bachelor.”
Now, the leading man stopped by the “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast for a special live episode co-hosted by Bachelor Nation fan-favorite couple Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt.
During their candid conversation about this season so far, Joe and Serena asked Zach how he’s felt about being called a “boring” Bachelor by fans ever since he was announced.
Zach opened up, saying, “I didn’t have my phone at the time of the announcement, so I didn’t see the initial fanfare, for better or for worse. I didn’t see any of that. After the fact, like after filming, I did learn about people calling me boring. I was like okay, but just watch, though. It gets pretty good.”

He went on, saying, “Yeah, I’m not like the dude that’s going to cause unnecessary bullsh*t, but in life, you find yourself in unnecessary bullsh*t and it’s entertaining. To be honest, it was a little weird in the beginning and it kind of sucked. You never like to be told you’re boring, but then you look on the bright side and realize I could be called the a**hole Bachelor. That would be worse. I don’t want to be an a**hole Bachelor.”
Joe chimed in, saying that he doesn’t find Zach boring at all. Instead he finds him decisive and respects him for sending people home even if they might be “good for TV.”
And Zach shared why fans might have thought of him as boring or might not have gotten to know him very well prior to his time as the lead.

Zach said, “Before the season even started, I know I was called a boring Bachelor, but not a whole lot was shown from us guys last season. I do totally understand where people are coming from because it seems like this random guy Zach who they only saw do one dumb thing on the ship and that’s about it.”
He continued on, adding, “That was literally my season and I get that, so it’s not lost on me. I did make it to the final three, but in the grand scheme of the show, they want to get used to and know the people’s characteristics. That wasn’t shown much because there was a lot of other stuff going on. We had two Bachelorettes and two sets of men to follow.”
