Eric Bigger Revealed How ‘The Bachelorette’ Helped Him Break Down His Toxic Masculinity
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Eric Bigger on “The Bachelorette,” “Bachelor in Paradise,” and “Bachelor Winter Games.”
And now he’s reflecting on his time getting to know Rachel Lindsay on “The Bachelorette” fondly as a time of major growth for himself.
During a recent appearance on the “Good Day Live” talk show, Eric opened up about how being on Bachelor Nation shows helped him break down his toxic masculinity and become more vulnerable.
Eric said, “Growing up in Baltimore and a being very driven young man, I was getting through those tough periods and I would use a lot of my masculine energy to protect myself. Then I got to this space where I had this know-it-all energy, like I really knew it all and I was always so masculine.”

He added, “It was like, ‘Bro, you need to relax a little bit.’ I needed to be able to receive and let someone help me. I was in my own way.”
And Eric said it wasn’t until his time on “The Bachelorette” that he really got in touch with his emotions.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “Honestly, it was thanks to my time on ‘The Bachelorette’ that taught me how to be vulnerable. It put me in a position where I couldn’t just be the giver and do the masculine thing. When I’m more masculine, I want to give, and when I’m more feminine, I want to receive and feel more nurtured.”
He went on, saying, “So being in that position on TV for 10 weeks, I wasn’t in control, and that allowed me to go within myself and ask why I am here. It showed me that if I speak my authentic truth, I can help myself and help others. It’s bigger than what it looks like. I always say, don’t look it, be it. Most of the time it’s hard to be it because we don’t know how to be it.”

And Eric shared a clip of the interview on Instagram and got candid in his caption.
He wrote, “Baltimore taught me to be super masculine to protect myself. However, going on TV for several weeks I discovered my vulnerability and how to receive and be in my feminine. Over the years, the balance of the two energies made me whole. Being a prominent giver, I found out it’s okay to receive.”
Eric concluded his post writing, “Human being is better than a human doing. It’s the difference between chasing and attracting or creating versus allowing. Thank you Baltimore City and @bacheloretteabc you see the polarity. Balanced the two. It makes a big difference.”
We love how honest and open Eric continues to be on social media. We know his vulnerability will continue to help others.
