EXCLUSIVE: Zach Reveals Season Will Come to an ‘Overwhelming’ End and Shares If He Has Any Regrets
Getting candid.
Bachelor Nation fans are watching Zach Shallcross’ journey as the Bachelor unfolds each week, and now he’s sitting down exclusively with us here at BachelorNation.com.
At the “Women Tell All” special, we checked in with Zach about how watching his season back has been, whether he has any regrets, and what we can expect from his final few weeks.
Check out our full interview with the Bachelor below!
Bachelor Nation: Thank you for chatting with us, Zach! First of all, how has it been watching your journey to find love back this season?
Zach Shallcross: Always so great talking to you, Bachelor Nation! It is very difficult and cringey to watch back. Even last season, I couldn’t stand to watch myself. Now when I watch it more, I cringe at every little thing! The way I talk or say the word “like” a lot and all that has been cringey, but it’s also funny. All in all, it’s been a great time watching it back despite a little cringe.

BN: That makes sense! Is there anyone you felt like you needed closure with here at “Women Tell All”?
ZS: In regard to closure for myself, I don’t feel like there is any necessary closure for myself, but I do believe that some people might have needed it. I wanted Kat to feel comfortable and I wanted her to know where I was coming from. It was nothing ever with her, it was just where my heart was taking me and it wasn’t us that could have a future. For me personally, a lot of closure was handled at the moment. That was one goal I tried to do, but I know that doesn’t always happen.
BN: Love that! What has it been like seeing the conversation about your season on social media?

ZS: I think with the people calling me boring or whatever online, I kind of am just like, “Bring it on” at this point. I’m not really reading it all. I like to play into it and have a little fun with it. I don’t take myself too seriously, and I think when people might say it’s boring, it’s because it’s something that they’re not used to. When they are accustomed to wild or crazy things, more romantic and relationship-oriented, they’re just not used to it. People also love to be hypercritical of the lead no matter what, so this is what people were grabbing for. I think it’s just kind of funny. I’m not the life of the party and I told them that coming into this, so I’m really okay with it all.
BN: Totally. Was there anything that surprised you watching your season back so far?
ZS: I think a big thing that was news to me and I didn’t understand how it affected the dynamic of the women was the relationship with Kat, Brooklyn, and Charity. In the moment, I only see what I see, and I saw Kat take some initiative. In the moment, I didn’t see how that affected everyone throughout and gave everyone a bitter taste in their mouth about what happened there in Estonia that bled into Budapest. That was news to me and I can understand it better now.

BN: Of course. Watching it back so far, do you have any regrets about any decisions you made?
ZS: I’m quite confident in the decisions that I made up until Hometowns. For Hometowns in particular, I wanted to go into that week with four women I knew there was a possible future with. I felt confident about that and if I had any doubts about a future, I didn’t want to include their families in that.
BN: Yeah, that’s very understandable. And lastly, what can fans expect from the remainder of your season?
ZS: In the remaining weeks, fans can expect to see very difficult decisions being made, but overall, if I could just use one word to describe it, I would just say the remainder of the season is overwhelming. It’s very overwhelming, both good and bad, to a point where I’ve never faced anything like it before.
BN: We can’t wait to watch it all unfold. Thank you, Zach!
