Mari Pepin & Kenny Braasch Discuss Prenups, Premarital Counseling & More Ahead of Wedding Day
Keeping it real.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Mari Pepin and Kenny Braasch find love and get engaged on Season 7 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Now, the two are planning not one but two weddings for both of their hometowns, in Illinois and Puerto Rico.
The fan-favorite couple is breaking down wedding planning each week in their Wedding Wednesday Instagram series, and this week they didn’t shy away from the difficult topics that come up in the premarital planning process.
Mari posted polls to her Instagram Stories about everything from premarital counseling and prenups to combining finances and more.
Mari kicked off the episode by saying, “Premarital prep is any prep you do as a couple before getting married. That could include going to premarital couples therapy, talking to a financial adviser together, and things like that that will help you make sure you’re on the same page about everything before you get married.”

And Mari revealed how she and Kenny feel about premarital therapy.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “I think it’s good to just talk to someone like a neutral third party and make sure you’re on the same page about everything. If there are any grievances, you can talk them out before getting married. And if you find that there are things you can’t work through, good thing you went and worked it out before you got married. I feel like it’s more common than you’d expect.”
Great advice!
She and Kenny also discussed their thoughts on prenuptial agreements and why they are a controversial topic for some engaged couples.
Mari said, “When it comes to prenuptial agreements, a lot of people’s thought process is that signing a prenup is going into the marriage with a negative mindset. We talked about it and we both feel like there’s no point in it in our situation.”
Kenny chimed in, saying, “I see why people don’t like it, but I also understand why people do ask for it.”
And Mari added that she had many DMs about prenups after posting her poll, including one from her lawyer friend.

Mari shared, “I had a lawyer friend chime in and she said she was surprised by how many people said they wouldn’t do a prenup. It literally is just protecting what you brought into the marriage. It’s just something you can have in your back pocket and if you never need it, then great.”
The couple also shared their thoughts and plans when it comes to combining finances.
Mari said, “When it comes to joining bank accounts and combining everything, I understand the perspective of you’re getting married you’re supposed to be there forever, so why wouldn’t you? But I also think it’s important for each person to have a little autonomy. I feel like the perfect setup is to have four accounts.”
And Kenny added that, “There’s a shared account for bills, you have your account to go online shopping, I have my account to buy shoes, and then there’s a savings account that’s joined.”
We love how candid Mari and Kenny are being about all these important topics. Check out more in their full video above.
