Sarah Herron Gets Candid About Her Recent Skin Cancer Surgery: ‘Stay Out of Tanning Beds’
Important reminder.
Bachelor Nation first met Sarah Herron on Season 17 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Seasons 1 and 3 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Since her time on the Bachelor Nation shows, Sarah has been extremely open with fans about important topics like fertility, egg freezing, limb differences, and mental health.
This week, Sarah got candid with her hundreds of thousands of followers about a recent procedure she had to remove skin cancer from under her eye.
Sarah shared photos of the incision and took to her Instagram Stories to explain what happened and how she ended up needing surgery.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “I wish I had a good before photo of what it looked like. It was a very tiny little red spot that was a little bit raised. I had it for about four or five years, I had it for a long time. I thought it was maybe just a wart. I didn’t know.”
She went on, saying, “I was at my dermatologist having my stitches checked for another skin cancer he removed and I asked him to check the one under my eye and he said that it looked like another basal cell.”
Then, Sarah explained the procedure and shared that she thinks she has had to deal with multiple skin cancer procedures due to the time she used to spend in tanning beds.
Sarah said, “Let me tell you what they did to my eye. Even though where the incision was only the size of a pencil eraser, in order to close the incision, they had to make a long cut under my eye and long cut along my eyelashes to create this triangular flap that they could pull over the incision to close it up. If they were to take the skin from the top I would’ve had scrunching, so they had to do a triangular flap. Yeah, maybe stay out of tanning beds #skincancerawareness”
She shared updates after the surgery and said that by the following night, the swelling had gone down considerably and by 48 hours post-surgery, she felt like it would heal up well.
Sarah concluded her Stories by reminding her followers to get their skin checked.
What a great reminder, and we’re wishing Sarah a speedy recovery!
