Sarah Herron Honors Her Late Son’s Due Date in Emotional Post: ‘Not a Day I Could Have Prepared For’
In our hearts.
Bachelor Nation first met Sarah Herron on Season 17 of “The Bachelor,” and she returned to our screens for Seasons 1 and 3 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
In September, after many highs and lows of her IVF journey, Sarah revealed that she and her fiancé Dylan Brown were expecting a baby boy.
Then earlier this year, Sarah took to Instagram to share the tragic news that their baby boy Oliver passed away shortly after he was born prematurely at 24 weeks.
Now, Sarah is honoring Oliver’s due date around four months after his passing.
In a new post, the Bachelor Nation star wrote, “Happy Due Date, my sweet angel. Today is not a day that I could have prepared for. But my perfect son, through the sorrow and unbearable grief, you have given me a gift that words will not suffice. It is with my wisest knowing that our souls had a contract to fulfill with each other, and this is exactly the way it was supposed to be for us.”
Sarah continued on, saying, “You needed parents who could hold this short life for you; safely and honorably. You chose me, not in spite of karma, but because of it. This wasn’t our first life together, and it surely will not be our last. Your clever spirit had a message to be shared and this was your chance to have it heard ‘round the world.”
Sarah shared how Oliver forever changed her and has deepened her appreciation for everything in life, like music, nature, and humanity.
She shared a quote that has helped her through her grief, saying, “I’ve always been brave with my life, and as Brené Brown says, when you sign up to be in the arena… you sign up to get your ass kicked. I’m proud to have my face marred by dust and blood, because if I lost, at least it was while daring greatly.”
And Sarah concluded her emotional post by writing, “Today we weep and celebrate all that you have given our family; bravery, resiliency, courage, optimism, and hope. After a grueling, long, season of Wintering… you have given us Spring; a chance to begin again. See you again, sweet soul.”
We’re continuing to keep Sarah and her family in our thoughts as they navigate this very difficult time.
