This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Nick Viall Joins Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Season of ‘The Bachelorette’
Throwing it back!
This week in Bachelor Nation history, we’re looking back on a moment that is still one of the most iconic twists fans didn’t see coming.
During episode four of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of “The Bachelorette,” Kaitlyn and her men went on a group date in New York City.
The group date was with hip-hop legend Doug E. Fresh and he helped Kaitlyn’s men prepare for a rap battle.
As the audience fills in to watch the men perform on their group date, a few familiar faces are seen in the back of the room.
Ashley Iaconetti and Nick Viall are spotted in the mix, and after the performance, Kaitlyn goes over to say hello to them.
Nick reveals that before filming began, he and Kaitlyn became friends and started chatting on the phone and on social media.
Kaitlyn and Nick have a one-on-one conversation where she asks him if he’s planning on staying and joining the house.
He says that he thinks that’s up to her and would understand if it’s too late. He just wanted to meet her in person either way.
Kaitlyn shares that she needs more time to think about it and heads to the second half of her group date with the rest of the men.
Shawn Booth immediately notices something is wrong with Kaitlyn and asks her what was going on.
The Bachelorette shares that she’s considering inviting Nick to join the group even though they’d never met before that night.
Many of the men express their hurt and share their feelings with Kaitlyn, with Shawn saying that if Kaitlyn was confident in their relationship, she wouldn’t even consider bringing another guy into the group.
After this difficult conversation with her group of guys, Kaitlyn goes back to where Nick was waiting for her on the pier and he tells her that she needs to do whatever she thinks is best.
The two share their first kiss in that moment, and the next day, she tells him that she would regret letting him go home.
Nick says, “Well, good!” and the two kiss again and he goes to join her group of men.
At the end of the episode, Nick is seen walking into the hotel room with all the other men and says, “What’s up, guys?” just before the episode cuts off for the next week’s preview.
