Brayden Opens Up About Getting Charity’s First Impression Rose on ‘The Bachelorette’
Bachelor Nation fans just met Brayden on Season 20 of “The Bachelorette,” and he famously received Charity’s First Impression Rose.
Now, the Bachelor Nation star is getting candid on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast in an exclusive chat about night one.
Co-hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt asked Brayden how he felt watching the episode back and how it felt to see Charity give him the rose after what her brother Nehemiah told her Brayden was saying.
He said, “Honestly, hearing it back, it made me feel better. It made me feel like even despite hearing that from her brother, she cared more about the connection that we had. It was more like she took his advice and listened, but she still made the decision that the connection we had was strong enough to keep me there.”
Brayden shared, “If anything, it was so validating to see that. In that moment, the feelings I had were pretty strong about the connection we made right from the jump. It just felt good to see that it was reciprocated.”
Serena asked Brayden what was going through his head when he thought Charity might be sending him home.
“At that moment, it was going through my head that my mom is going to be disappointed in me and my dad is going to be disappointed in me,” Brayden revealed. “I thought I made myself look like an ass and I was an ass and felt like I hurt her feelings and made her feel bad and that I was taking it as a joke, but that wasn’t what I wanted to do.”
He explained, “That’s where my head was at and I felt so bad. It was an insane roller coaster ride. I was on cloud nine from our conversation and then I was taken to the depths, but then she brought me back and I didn’t even know what to do or what to say.”
Joe said he thought Charity was going to send him home but was pleasantly surprised when she did things differently than he’d ever seen on the show.
Joe also asked Brayden if after that first night he felt like he had to change how he acted around the other guys and maybe share less about his relationship with Charity.
Brayden said, “Even the kissing thing, when people ask me a question, I answer it. I don’t know if it’s a bad trait, I just am what I am. I am always unapologetically myself. It’s hard, when you’re in that situation and people ask you questions, you want to give honest answers so I answer straight forward. I just stick to that and that’s the way I went about it.”
