Hannah Ann Sluss Mourns the Unexpected Loss of Fiancé Jake Funk’s Dad: ‘Our Hearts Will Never Be the Same’
In our thoughts.
Last February, Bachelor Nation star Hannah Ann Sluss revealed her relationship with Jake Funk, who plays running back for the L.A. Rams.
And earlier this year, the two got engaged on the stunning beaches of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Now, Hannah Ann just took to Instagram and got extremely candid and emotional about Jake’s father unexpectedly passing away.
The Bachelor Nation star shared a photo with Jake’s family and wrote, “This past week has been the absolute hardest we have ever faced. Losing a parent is something you are never prepared for. You grow up thinking your loved ones are invincible, but they aren’t. We unexpectedly lost Jake’s dad and our hearts will never be the same. We will miss him dearly.”
Hannah Ann went on, saying, “I know we have some dark times ahead but there’s so much to thank God for even in the midst of grieving. We are committed to focusing on things to be thankful for and honoring his father by keeping his memory alive and pressing on. There’s just some moments in life you can’t ever put into words. We are choosing today and everyday to smile and think about all the things we have to be grateful for! I feel blessed to be a part of this family and believe God will bring the light!”
She also took to her Instagram Stories, where she broke down in tears and opened up about why she hasn’t been posting much this past week.
Hannah Ann said, “The last week has been incredibly hard on Jake and our families. I wanted to hop on here and let you guys know before I start posting life again, we lost his dad and we are starting the grieving process. I felt weird about hopping on here and sharing my life without acknowledging what is really going on in our lives. I know social media can be super deceiving.”
She continued, adding, “I can’t thank you guys enough for over the last several years for always supporting me. Every comment, every message has always meant the world to me, both the good and the bad. I’ve always wanted my page to be a place of positivity and to share things that make me happy.”
Hannah Ann shared how she will be grieving privately and taking care of her fiancé and his family.
She said, “Our grieving will be kept private as it should, I just never wanted anyone to think or go on my page and think life is perfect. It’s not. This is a real part of life and so thank you for all of the support. My biggest priority is just being there for Jake. Yesterday I took him to get IVs and today I’m getting the things to make his favorite cookies. Tomorrow we’re going to go get pedicures. Those are a few of the things we’re doing to help take care of ourselves.”
We’re continuing to keep Hannah Ann and Jake’s family in our thoughts as they navigate this very difficult time.
