Dotun Reveals His Road to ‘The Bachelorette’ and the Moment His Soul Spoke to Him Seeing Charity
Perfect timing.
Bachelor Nation fans are getting to know Dotun on Charity Lawson’s season of “The Bachelorette.”
Now, the fan favorite is stopping by the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast and opening up about how he ended up on the show and how Charity spoke to his soul before he ever met her.
Dotun shared with co-hosts Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile how he found out he was going on “The Bachelorette” just days before filming began.
He said, “I got on the show only two weeks before filming started. It was a really short timeline, one of the shortest, I’ve been told. It was just happenstance that someone dropped out and I jumped in at that two-week point. I was going back and forth on the process during those two weeks and I was unsure if I was going to go through with it. It was so last-minute that I didn’t have time to think about it a lot.”
Dotun revealed that it was seeing Charity get announced as the lead that really gave him the push he needed to commit to the process.
He explained, “It was truly seeing Charity on the ‘Women Tell All’ for Zach’s season. I was watching because they were going to announce the Bachelorette and I thought that would maybe shift my decision. I was looking at all beautiful women from Zach’s season and they were all smart and amazing, but nothing was doing it at first. I was like, ‘Should I really pour my heart into something like this?’ Then I saw Charity, and there was something about her that made my soul speak and say, ‘You should go for it.’”
Dotun added, “Once I saw her, that was the deciding factor truly for me to actually go through with it. That morning when I woke up, I was certain I wasn’t going to do the show because it was too short of notice financially and with work, it felt like it wasn’t the right timing. But once I saw Charity at the ‘Tell All,’ something was telling me to go. That’s why I went for it.”
